Idiots.. that is the reason. I guess I don't get the whole moshing thing. Your going throw your body against someone else's to the beat of the music. What the quack?
We were leaving and several guys just thought they would slam themselves into us. So we slammed there head on the wall.
Oh well. Sounds like fun... really
What a DBAG! Why don't you get yourself another mixed drink their buddy!

They should know that if you are going to throw yourself into a random person you have to deal with the consequences. I was in a mosh pit and I had a 6' 6" 300 lb. or so guy shove me on the ground, I slid about 15 feet and my tail bone was in serious pain for about 2 weeks after that. Oh and I tried to get away but wasn't able to. I'm not a fan of mosh pits.

People here (some already do) should understand that there really isn't any "getting caught" in a mosh pit. If you're in it, you are because you want to be in it. People usually form a perimeter around the pit in case someone gets knocked down, they don't get trampled I've been to plenty of metal shows and been in plenty of good pits, but I've kinda outgrown it. The point isn't to injure anyone, and nothing is personal. I'll likely be on the sidelines with a first aid kit in my backpack.

^karma to kielcrunk for trying to help spread the word that moshing isnt obnoxous, but just a bit more of an expressive way to party with the people in the crowd vibing off of the bands music. The people that will be seeing Mastodon and The Sword will most likely all be ok with some moshing around, all the other people can and will find other forms of entertainment. I for one will be in the middle of these crowds with corn in my pocket, hand in the air, and a new friend to push around for a few songs and then take a smoke break . Now I do feel sorry for a few people that will have doochebag moshers around them for Metallica, because it will happen, that is just the way of life. I just hope none of the good folks here on inforoo will have to deal with those guys.
By the way, The Sword quacking rocks, listening to it right now for the first time in a few months. WOW!
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

About setting that record for largest circle pit in US history...I grew up on punk and hardcore, have nothing against moshing, and am no stranger to a pit, though it's been many years since I actively participated in one...but this just sounds dangerous! I don't think the thing would make it one revolution before someone got brutally trampled...just sounds like some physics experiment I see going horribly wrong...but on that note...it still goes counter clockwise right? I'm down

i was being just a tad bit sarcastic when i said that...although i would enjoy some circle pit love during the against me! set. its funny that you mention the counter clockwise thing, all the pits back in the day used to go that way. i remember seeing rancid on the rancid rancid tour in 2000 and they demanded to go against the grain n go clockwise. i swear....every circle pit ive seen since 2001 or so has gone clockwise. weird...
Moshing is so 20th century. It's hard to believe people still do something so mind-numbingly stupid at shows.
It is literally the anti-thesis of everything the Vibe and Music at Bonnaroo represent.
Here's the thing though, at Bonnaroo, people don't even want to touch other people they don't know, let alone slam into them. Have you ever noticed people tend to give you your space at Bonnaroo?? At a Metal show it may be different, b/c the audience potentially had a shower that day, and have been saving up all day for one band. Most people are so dirty, sweaty, and otherwise unclean, as well as worn out from the endurance test that is Bonnaroo, that slamming into someone else during a show makes little sense. Yea, let me get all the sweat, germs, and dirt from someone I don't know all over me, without a way to wash it off. Not to mention, I may potentially injure myself, so I have to hobble around the rest of the weekend to see the bands I want to see. Where do I sign up?
Bonnaroo is a festival people go to to alter and expand their mind and their musical horizons. It was built as that and will remain that in 2008.

Apparently counter-clockwise circle pits are so 20th century...I don't think I could do it the other way...it'd be like trying to write with my right hand (I'm a lefty)...it just goes against my instincts, and I'd definitely hurt myself. And yeah, kielcrunk, I did detect a bit of sarcasm there.

Moshing only becomes a problem with me when you have the douchebags that actually try to hurt people and treat the pit like it is an everyman for himself bar fight.
