Don't know if anyone has brought this up, but do you guys think Iron & Wine will have Calexico as his backing band? I could've swore that was the set-up for the current tour, but after investigating it briefly, I think maybe I just made that up??? I know they've played together before and Calexico was great at Bonnaroo in '04...so I'd like to see it happen. Does anyone know anything about this?
i haven't heard anything about this...i know that the new record has more backing band to it, but the record that was released with calexico was actually referenced as an iron and wine and calexico project, so that would lead me to think it's just sam and whoever else he has backing him up, but not the band..

It would be cool if Calexico was his backing band, but I seriously doubt they will be. If they were, they would have been listed along with him in the lineup.
Once I saw news of the Califone support of I&W, I too got my hopes up!!
Saw Califone years back opening for Wilco in Chicago and then again a year or so ago out here in Denver -- both times were excellent and just about every bit of recorded output is wonderful -- I want 'em at Roo!
Edit: I have to link up to one of my favorite album reviews of all time at this point -- this is the piece that started my love affair with Amanda Petrusich's writing...

I was considering/hoping for this possiblilty before the lineup even came out. If you compare calexico's collaborations on the "I'm Not There" soundtrack the the bonnaroo lineup, things could get pret-ty, pret-ty interesting...
"Music has always been a matter of energy to me, a question of Fuel. Sentimental people call it Inspiration, but what they really mean is Fuel. I have always needed fuel. I am a serious consumer. On some nights I still believe that a car with the gas needle on empty can run about fifty more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio."
