I saw Willie and Bob Dylan in Nashville a few years back, and then I saw Willie again this year. He is a true showman. Also, I'm willing to put down cash money that he opens with "Whiskey River".
Was that during their tour of minor league baseball parks? I wanted to catch that in SAV, but couldn't make it. But I've seen both separetly since.
Yeah, it was. It was a great show. Seeing two living legends in one show, you really just can't beat it.

For a new Willie listener which would be the most well rounded album to start off with?
I think you should get the Essential Willie Nelson. That has a lot of the easier to get into stuff. I like Shotgun Willie, Bloody Mary Morning, I Never Cared for You, Night Life, City of New Orleans. Also check out The Maker and Funny How Time Slips Away, which is my personal favorite.

i think the reason no one is talking a lot of willie is that he always brings a solid professional show. you know he will come and have fun and you will have fun. hes cool and hip - hes a standard. i think MMJ is sorta like that at this point for me. they are maybe my favorite act...but i KNOW they will bring it...so im not posting about them as much.
I'm stoked about willie. There's a lot of bands in the lineup that I've hear of but never really went out to listen to their music. I got alot of ipod downloads to complete before june.

Willie always starts off with Whiskey river. That is a given. His show was way better than i expected at Coachella last year also. Hopefully we can get it cloudier then Burn One Down last year. Willie brings it always. So dont miss it. Heres a couple of videos from Coachella last year. This introduction is great.
I saw Willie close down 2 different Farm Aid concerts. The first time he came out and did 3 or 4 medleys of his big hits and I was surprised how much of his material I knew, but thought it was a pretty good set for an old fella..
Well it turns out he was sick when he did that performance but he went on anyway..
the next Farm Aid I saw him at he played twice as long, had everyone come out for a gosspel number to close down the live feed to the country music channel then about 4 songs for encore.. I was very impressed!
I went to his 4th of July picnic in 2003 and was totally blown away. Not only does he put on a great show, but he came out with almost every one of the other bands to play a song or two over the course of 2 days, including trading guitar solos with Neil Young on Roll Another Number and Down By the River.
