Set List 7/18/07, The Ryman, Nashville Mail Train Ophelia Memphis Fanny Mae Scratch My Back I Wanna Know Goodbye My Love Got Me a Woman Atlantic City Ashes of Love Did You Love Me Sittin' On Top of the World (with Sam Bush) One More Shot Wide River (with Buddy Miller) Rough and Rocky (with Emmylou Harris) Evangeline (with Emmylou Harris) Rag Mama Beautiful Lies R + R Shoes Shape I'm In Rain Down Tears of Rage Chest Fever Weight Encore: I Shall Be Released
I imagine we'll be treated to at least a few Band classics, some old standards and a bit of his new CD. I am so friggin' psyched to hear his set, I don't know I'll wait til June...
I'm sure he can play any of the songs live. I don't think you have rights to a live songs. If you're wondering what songs he sings or what instruments he plays on a particular Band song, this site is a perfect resource. www.geocities.jp/hideki_wtnb/bandplay.html
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.
can someone remind me again why robertson and helm don't still play together...
I think it stems from The Last Waltz. Robertson produced/edited it with his friend and director of the film, Martin Scorcese. I havent seen the movie but what i've read is that it makes him (robertson) look like the band leader/genius and the other 4 guys Danko,Manuel, Hudson and Helm were made out to be just guys who were in the band. I could be totally wrong but thats how i percieved it to be via things ive read on the internet.

7/18/07, The Ryman, Nashville
^^^^
I was there. And trust me....you do not want to miss this show if you are even remotely interested in the work of The Band. The opportunities for guests is astounding. This will be one of the best shows at Bonnaroo this year. No doubt.

There is a lingering bitterness over the fact that Robertson got rich off of the success of the Band, while the rest of them struggled from gig to gig after the break up. Robbie was basically in charge from day one, so he snagged the majority of the writers credits, and made a fortune.
Some felt he should have shared the wealth with his friends, but it is a business I suppose. He was busy planning his next move, producing albums, writing new songs while the others were off womanizing and partying.....so I've read.
I love his new album "Dirt Farmer" it is a great traditional country record. I will be a happy camper if I get to hear "The Shape I'm In" That has always been one of my favorites from the Band.

This is going to be an amazing show. Watching "The Last Waltz" got me sooooo excited last night. I wonder if we could see the Allmans play "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and get Levon to sing it, I think I would die.
