Pollstar said Zep. That had a whole "Zeppelin IS playing Roo after all" article that they conspicuously took down after Superfly denied Zeppelin's presence. They replaced it with a completely different press release.
While I would love to hold out any hope that Zep will play, I just don't see it anymore. IF they were added, I truly think my head would explode. And then you would see all these people bitching about Metallica, and the fact that Jack Johnson is headlining, eat a huge fucking plate of crow.
Now, I may be getting way ahead of myself, but I just hope to god that if they are indeed playing, that their set doesn't conflict with Levon Helm, Sigur Ros, or Allman Brothers... I would seriously cry.
i foresee a definite conflict between tmv, sigur ros and mmj. i think inevitably 2 of them will be playing at the same time.

I think that we will get a short list of additions around 11pm or so tonight. Around the same time that Chris Rock was added. I think we will all see the same type of conflicts that we saw last year.

i would really love for the mars volta to be there. i was reading rolling stone today and there is an article about cedric and omar and how they used to Quigi board to try to contact their friend and how they recieved a message about the goliath. pretty intense shit, as well as completely mental lol, but thats what they used as the muse for the album. if TMV is added they will jump to my #1 must see show. as much as i like the lineup right there arent many bands i would have put on the lineup out of my own collection of music, the mars volta would be that add.

They WILL NOT conflict with MMJ or Sigur Ros. Superfly knows its audience, and knows how to spread out the crowd. While none of the above listed bands are similar pretty much at all, they all still fit somewhere in the indie side of Bonnaroo's acts. Jambands, superjam, bluegrass, reggae, country, jazz, hip-hop, or electronic acts could and will conflict with them on the other hand.
My biggest dilema is going to be: Volta vs. Superjam on Friday late night, or Sigur Ros vs. Superjam on Saturday night.
Either way, it will be the first year in 3 years I will probably miss the superjam, and honestly it makes me a little sad. That being said, Volta and Sigur Ros are the two biggest names on the lineup for me, so both of them getting a latenight would be about as perfect a schedule Superfly could put out.
I have to say on album Mars Volta is quite amazing but both times I've seen them live I really wasn't impressed.... maybe I just caught them on off nights but their live show just doesn't do it for me..... with that being said I really do hope they will be there cuz I know how many people around here really want them to be so let's hope for the best!!!!

what have you listened to? that may help
Ágætis byrjun, Sæglópur, Sé Lest, the whole ( ) album. Better yet, just get the new dvd (Hvarf-Heim). That will affect your decision to see them live.
Superfly really needs to get their shit straight, haha. People keep putting out press releases that Superfly must not want out, inadvertently leaking information before they can announce it themselves.

My thoughts on the matter are this... Every single one of their albums have taken me a ton of listens to get into. I love their sound, but it never fails. It usually clicks somewhere between the 5-10 listen.
Now, in concert the sound is usually not as clear as what you hear on the album. Bass is too loud. You can't hear Cedric so well, etc. On top of that, Volta play very frantic music most of the time, and if you don't know the songs, just like hearing the album the first few times, it may put you off.
I saw them in January, and Bedlam leaked the day before the show. I listened to the album 3 times, but I still hadn't digested it. About 8 of the 14 songs were from the new album. If I had known the songs better, I am certain would have enjoyed the show more.
Short answer, digest the albums, give them another shot, and then make your final decision.

Very true. Once you know the songs/albums intricately you can appreciate them live that much more. There are 8 people in the band too, sometimes the mix gets kind of muddy with that many sounds.

I actually feel like they are likely to get the spot Ween got last year in That Tent. I am still fairly confident MMJ will get a Which Stage late night.

didn't think about that. that would be cool. but then they might conflict with someone like allman brothers. that would suck.
