Could Ringo maybe be a possibility? I haven't seen him live...but I'm thinking all-star band...maybe a few special guests on top of that, and a set mostly comprised of Beatles at roo sounds good to me.
the death cab idea is nice, but doesn't incorporate the walrus aspect. ringo WAS/IS "the walrus" from the song. if they were really meaning to reference death cab, thats about the most obscure (read: worst) way possible. after the song came out, there was a discussion as to whether paul or john was the walrus, and the two often stirred up the controversy for the hell of it (for instance, when john sings "Here's another clue for you all, the walrus was Paul" in Glass Onion.) both paul and john have given totally contradictory accounts of "the walrus" in the past.
it is quite well known now among beatles buffs that it was neither paul nor john, but actually ringo.
if they had simply mentioned a song off of the Magical mystery tour movie, (the namesake of dcfc) i would be more inclined to believe it, but the walrus, to me, has to mean ringo.
They had an blurb about him in the commuter version of the Washington Post today; made me also wonder about Bonnaroo: FAB TOUR: Former Beatle Ringo Starr is heading out on the road beginning in June with the latest incarnation of his All Starr Band. Members this time around include Colin Hay (of Men at Work) and '80s hit-maker Billy Squier.

I still very very very much don't think Ringo will be there. Don't get me wrong, I love the man to pieces and beyond, but it's just not a good fit. I feel like people are hearing "Beatle" and thinking it makes sense just like the other bits and pieces (and at times full bands) we've had from classic rock acts....without understanding what Ringo's music and shows are actually like now. This is going to end up brutally honest, so let me state again that I absolutely ADORE Ringo, but...
Ringo's All Starr band tends to be composed of people from other bands who aren't big enough to tour on their own but aren't willing to give up on rock and roll quite yet. The audience at their shows consists of two main categories of people. One is baby boomers who are amused by the fact that these names are still touring and decide to go see them for fun. And the other is the Beatle fans, young and old (that would be my category! I did see him live and had a lot of fun). It's not really a general appeal kind of show. And as for Rings himself...he's just not that talented as a songwriter. I enjoy his solo stuff, but I will admit that it is just not high quality songs.
Long story short, I will be completely flabbergasted if he is there somehow. Just not a logical 'roo type of act. (Sorry Rings! I still love you!)
