Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So who do you all think should play this year at the jazz tent? Considering rumors that the jazz tent will be bigger this year, hopefully we see a bigger range of artists
I hope to see:
Return to Forever Ornette Coleman Charlie Hunter Medeski, Scofield, Martin and Wood Jean-luc Ponty Wayne Shorter The Wood Brothers
Charles Lloyd Billy Cobham Garage a Trois (yeah, I know you said Charlie Hunter already, but still) Sonny Rollins Vandermark 5 Ximo Tebar Mahavishnu Project (Gregg Bendian's tribute to Mahavishnu Orchestra) Von Freeman
I intend on taking full advantage of the Jazz tent this year... for me, I found it impossible to get into. But, I have a feeling that there won't be too terribly much going on during most of the day that I'd be too interested in...
I think it would be nice just to spend a few hours of the day, mostly in the early afternoon, lounging in there, getting prepped for my day.

if medeski scofield martin and wood play, there is no way they are going to be playing in that small ass tent. the line for just John and Billy was insane last year, i really wanted to see them but i saw dancing my ass off to sts9 much more appealing to waiting in line. unless they make the tent bigger, i just dont see that.
back on topic though, i want to see: chic corea bill frisell geoff farina ( or any of the members of Karate)

i haven't heard any rumors of the jazz tent being bigger this year, with no jazz artists being on the initial lineup i was assuming they weren't bringing it back

Karma for mentioning my personal favorite guitarist, Geoff Farina! Have you heard his Glorytellers stuff? I have actuallly only heard a few songs, but it's great. The guy just churns out ridiculous guitar work.

back at you with the karma, yea i've just heard the 3 songs on their myspace, sounds good though. if you haven't already, you need to get some of karate's live albums, they are incredible.

I have one of the live albums, it's amazing. Hey do you want me to send you some stuff? Do you have AIM?
We need to bump this. Only because its the only round of artist additions we don't have yet and I think its something we should speculate on and get our minds off of the whole "big" announcement spiel.

Saw Bill Frisell a couple weekends ago at the Music Now Festival in Cincinnati. Played with a string trio accompaniment and it was NASTY good. Would love to see that. Also, saw another band there that would fit in well in the jazz tent: Bang On A Can
Nope, we found out that The Whigs are going to be here and have not been announced yet so we have at least one more week of artist additions.
Like I said in the first post, I hope we bring back Ornette Coleman. Last year at his set there were not a whole lot of people there and I think he would do nicely in the jazz tent.
I had heard about Anthony Braxton alot before and decided to check him out. Listened to Dortmund 1976 and currently listening to Town Hall 1972, and if Anthony Braxton is at Bonnaroo, I will do my best to see his show.
I find it really neat that Bonnaroo has the capability to book all these music legends.
I was looking for Quintet (Basel) 1977, but the only version I found online is missing Composition 69 N/G, basically half of the entire album. You wouldn't happen to have that album would you?
The Mos Def Big Band is playing NYC late june for a jazz festival. Talib's already playing Bonnaroo. Maybe Mos Def brings his band as the big jazz act then sticks around for a late night Black Star set.
