Honestly, who gives a crap if he's a jerk or not? His music is freaking amazing.
I'm sure some of everyone's favorite musicians are d-bags, also, they just don't let the public see it so well. At least Patton's not secretive about his a-hole-ishness.

There is a fine line between being a punk rock asshole and actually taking your act on stage to purposefully disrespect and mock an innocent person's death. Good singer or not he doesn't deserve to play a festival like Bonnaroo.
I see your point. Obviously, it is a rather tasteless thing that he did with the miming of shooting up... but he had a pretty crappy relationship with Anthony, mostly... I think it was mostly directed towards him, could be wrong though.
But I'm not about to let something like that cloud my opinion of wanting to see one of my personal favorite singers playing at my favorite venue, Roo. And I'm sure there are many others that can look past that, as well.

I hear you and you are right there has been a lof of history between Patton and Anthony. The fact that I am a huge Peppers fan makes my opinion a little biased as well.

When did I glorify Slovak's addiction? The fact is you don't know anything about what addiction really is. You can't understand it until you have really been there. I don't condone his no no word abuse and yes it was selfish of him but you can't try and tell me the fact he died from an OD makes it anymore right for Patton to do what he did. Seriously man.
he and his band members, like many other bands (your avatar included) are guilty of condoning this behavior, looking the other way, and not helping out friends and family when in need.
i know quite a bit about the topic, and have helped many a brother out. if someone can't consume in moderation then their friends and family should not allow them to consume at all.
in this situation patton was expressing his anger with the RHCP. whether he was a fan or not, this OD and their general behavior affected the quality of music they provided to their fans.
Slovak couldnt shine Mike Patton's shoes even if he WAS alive. I had never heard of that RHCP parody. Sounds awesome! I'm going to go look for it on youtube wish me luck....

How about you educate yourself on the situation before posting. Patton did not parody them because he as angry at the OD. The OD happened years before. Patton was just bitter at Anthony because Anthony would not play festivals that he was at so Mr. Bungle got dropped from a few bills because obviously the festival would rather have the Peppers.
And when you try and say the peppers are guilty for turning a blind eye to Slovak's no no word use you just could not be more wrong. Read "Scar Tissue" by Anthony Kiedis and then come back and talk to me. For the record, the Peppers made their best music when they were all crazy quacked up.

Im surprised no one has mentioned Peeping Tom, I really like the album and I saw them a while back with Dub Trio backing on all the songs. it was really awesome Rahzel came out and Kid Koala and some other people that i dont remember. I feel like if any of his projects would be at roo it would be peeping tom just because its the most recent if im not mistaken

Allot of people were wanting Peeping Tom last year, but that would be impossible to do without a shit-ton of guests. I guess that's why no one is suggesting it...

A big difference here, none of it personal, but let me make a comparison:
Slovac cannot lace Patton's boots. He had a 10th of Patton's musical ability.
ANYTHING to get off of this old topic of "oh, Patton's a d-bag...." Yeah, we know. Who cares? Seriously, just quacking drop it.
(I was not serious in comparing the two, it's like comparing frozen yogurt to ice cream. I like frozen yogurt, and to me, Patton is like frozen yogurt.)
