Went to- Detroit '00, Detroit '03 (2 shows), Toronto '03, Detroit '06
haha. it is!! when was your first show pjgirl? first time was randall's island 2 in '96 for me- that was epic (check the setlist). been fan since alll the way back in '91 (i was 8!)
+karma for quoting MFC in your sig
i was a late bloomer, first time seattle '98, both nights. i think a lot of "live on two legs" was recorded at those shows. i was a lot older than 8..............
im going to have to up that show - so many people are crapping all over it...
would it have been better if I knew their catalog more deeply? I just know Ten and then the radio singles mostly...apparently they played some really rare stuff, or so I heard people say?
I'm also sure it would have been a better show if I were nearer to the stage (I was like halfway back on the field, up on the ridge). And I was BEATEN from the weekend
The only particularly rare song they played was Education. It was only the fourth time they've played this song from Lost Dogs. Other than the new song No More, it was mostly a greatest hits and singles show. They also played Crazy Mary and RITFW, but it's not unusual for them to play either or both songs at a show anymore.
As a big fan of Pearl Jam I was pretty disappointed with their set at Lollapalooza. I think they were trying to please the majority by playing the songs many people know, but I hope they dig a little deeper into their catalog for Bonnaroo.
For those who are not big fans, and don't have their later albums but will see them at Roo (possibly for the first time), which would you prefer to hear more of: radio songs that you recognize, or lesser known songs that you may not have ever heard otherwise?
my first time was in '96. second randall's island show. it had rained the night before i think. but their set went on forever. they played a few songs for the first time like off he goes. so incredible. the energy at their shows makes you tingle for hours afterwards. eddie communicates really well with the audience too. perfect for 'roo!!
my first was randalls 96, then 33 times since then. that was a truly epic show.
