kinda strange about the cancellation at Langerado, considering they are slated for Friday at the fest. You would think they could make it to NYC after their set and do the SNL gig. (Hell, Trey played St. Louis and Bonnaroo on the same NIGHT, hours apart).
But perhaps the small time nature of the band means that flying like this is logistically impossible... right now anyway.

I believe it's customary for bands to spend several days prior to the show in the SNL studio, hanging out with the cast, maybe taking part in comedy bits, etc.

They are somewhat "okay", I read in Spin how they got Leaked and posted on a Blog on 12am Valentines day 06' also it says they do a really good cover of Radioheads- Exit Music (For A Film).
I have a new found dislike for this band after this langerado shit. I like there music, but f*ck these guys. I mean honestly who the hell cares about SNL no one watches that shit and of the people that do maybe, 1 person will not go to the bathroom while they are playing. at rado they would of had a tent full of attentive people who actually WANT to see them.

i hope you arent comparing the exposure they will get from snl to playing a festival. its not even close. it may not be what it used to be, but snl will give them exponentially more exposure than any festival could. (including roo)
im not saying its not a dick move..but i understand.
nah i didnt mean more exposure if it came off like that, Im just saying that a lot of people at Langerado wanted to see this band and now they can't and like someone said, you cant resched a festy date. My anger comes from this being a slap in the face to people who are already their fans. also when i did watch snl i never checked out a band i saw on there after the show, most of the time i forgot the name and never thought about it again.

i agree. if they did the same thing for roo, id feel the same way for sure.
but i would bet that playing snl for any band, especially a reletively up an coming/lesser known band has a huge impact in terms of album sales/ticket sales, etc..
but again..you are screwing over a certain amount of people who may have purchased tickets with the assumption that you would be playing.
yeah, i guess i just dont feel like they need the exposure that snl could give them anway. I mean they are already selling out venues what the hell more do they want and honestly who buys albums anymore. lol

It's kind of a unique situation for Wilco and VW. Because of the writer's strike SNL was put on hiatus and once it was over they had to schedule music acts at the last minute. Usually SNL will book a band far enough in advance that this is never a problem.
So getting stood up for the bigger show sucks, but it's completely understandable how something like this happened .Especially for a newer act that needs as much exposure as they can get.

Yeah, she was the host the other week. So you weren't imagining things. Again a last minute thing, so they asked a friendly face to host due to the short notice.
Have you seen the spots for VW on MTV? I know MTV isn't music anymore, but at 6am when you're on your stepper trying to work on the Roo bod, they do play videos. Anyway I think these spots are supposed to make me love Vampire Weekend (already like their music) but they make me find them to be pretentious, obnoxious and kinda doofy. They ride on the bus, discuss which MTV personalities they like and dislike (seem to watch a lot of The Real World and Road Rules), try to teach one member how to ride a bike... it's really awful.
I feel that they are EVERYWHERE. Spin, Rolling Stone, even the commuter paper I read on the subway to work. I do like their sound, but am shocked. They have some kick-ass people marketing them!

I need some more time to sit on this band... I'm digging it thus far, but think I need to hear the right song at the right time to hook me (which is usually the case with bands I get into).

this is exactly what im talking about, this band does not need SNL to get more exposure at all. thats it im writing them a disgruntled letter about Langerado
