I'd have to say last year I enjoyed the day sets better than the headliners or late-nights. The Roots, Mavis Staples, Gogol Bordello, The Hold Steady, Dr. Dog, The Decemberists, The White Stripes, Junior Brown, Cold War Kids...pretty tough to beat that line-up.
I thought Mavis Staples was perfect last year; it cracked me up having been up for Sasha and Digweed all night and then being back at the same stage 6 hours later for Mavis. Wasn't Dylan during the day when he was there? Same with the Allman Brothers one year, Jazz Mandolin Project with Fishman was a good one, and of course last year's Gillian Welch with JPJ coming out was perfect.
Indeed. Sonic Youth & Tortoise back to back in 03, and Yo La Tengo and Patti smith in 04 are some more that have crept back into my memory.
I am glad somebody else went to that Patti Smith set in 04! I still rank that as one of my favorite day time shows. Also the Allmans always play during the day and I always take in the entire set.
I really enjoyed Michael Franti and Spearhead last year. My first show on Friday morning/early afternoon if I remember correctly. He just has such a good vibe when he is singing out there in that summer sun.
Close your eyes. Picture a convict. What's he wearing? Nothing special, baseball cap on backwards, baggy pants... he says something ordinary like... 'yo, thats shizzle.' Okay. Now slowly open your eyes again. Who are you picturing? A black man? Wrong. That was a white woman. Surprised? Well, shame on you.

Brothers Past also killllled it during the day in 06. it was so great because by the time their set finished the crowd was like 3 times bigger than when they started.
'04- Ani DiFranco (even though I think that was the hottest I have ever been at Bonnaroo, or in my life for that matter) she is amazing and I would love to see her added. '05- Jack Johnson (Anyone remember the guy in the tree?), Modest Mouse, or Herbie and the Headhunters with John Mayer '06- Beck- the puppet show and the Creep lead into Radiohead '07- Xavier was awesome, I love him and all his crazy instruments
