I know Kings of Leon rocked Roo last year so I doubt they will be back for rocking this year (but I can dream). For those of you who havent listened to them they are sort of an oldschool rock sounding band, similar to Wolfmother, Zox, etc. playing in the present day. I would love for them to come back but as imentioned they played last year so its un likely for there return in back to back years. what bands currently playing have that same old school sounding rock that I and many other people on this board im sure love to listen to. The Sword has an old school sounding rock in some of there songs but are there more that I should check out to see if I dig? Much thanks.
Could we also possibly see any additions to make up for the lack of this sound (unless there are bands that I dont really know about that have that sound) lke Jet, Coheed and Cambria, The Killers, 3 (they are a local band here in Woodstock im not sure if they are big anywhere else, but I love them and im sure if you check them out you will too), Coheed playing 'Welcome Home' would be a friggen dream come true, killer guitar riffs.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (they opened for KOL when i saw them at the Tower last tour.)
people seem to agree that since they played last year they won't play this year. they are playing a few festivals this summer. they play glastonbury, which is june 27-29. and bonnaroo is in their backyard. KoL play the all points west festival in new jersey in august....
i don't know, i hope they are there....but most people on this board seem to think that playing the year before disqualifies a band from playing the next year....
i humbly submit to their wisdom.

3 is AWESOME!! I saw them open for Porcupine tree twice last year and they were amazing. Dude has a really unique style of play. I'm gonna see them open up the Progressive Nation tour with Dream Theater and Opeth as well. I would welcome their addition to Bonnaroo in a heartbeat.
Now you just told me that friendship is all I'm forced to repair the breech in my wall Illusions and dreams, as usual, it seems Sabra girl, they've been my downfall
Wow thats cool that people all around know who they are, I know Joey Eppard and my friend did some songs with him and few other guys in 3. They are really good but I thought that was just because they are the most popular local band and I know some of the guys in the band. Check em out if you havent.

Widespread. Haven't they played every year except 08? I could be wrong... but I'm fairly positive they've atleast been there more than MMJ.
nah i was there in 04 and 06 and they werent on either lineup
Ahh yes, thanks for the correction. I just took the effort to actually look it up and those are the two years they didn't play, so they've played 4 times on the farm so far

yeah, they're fairly big now opening for porcupine tree and all. speaking of additions, if either 3 or p.tree was added, i would just be soooo happy.
I can pretty much tell you with 100% assurance that 3 will not be there, a girl that im going with is like best friends with Joey and since she is going she would deffinitly know if they were gonna be there I would think. Maybe not, but I dont know, im pretty sure we can say they wont be there, maybe in years coming but not this year.

Porcupine Tree is pretty good from what i hear are they good live?
I've only seen Porcupine Tree once. BTW - I prefer jambands, electronica, and hard rock.
To me, they were the greatest "tease" band of all time. They build these incredible songs - really rich music. Then, when they should be building to climax, they end the song. They did this over and over. There is so much potential to build into some incredibly powerful explosions that they just don't seem interested in creating. To me, they were incredibly frustrating. Maybe, they just lack patience to let these songs go where they could.
I've had a thought many times since seeing them. I keep thinking - how fun would it be to insert Trey into Porcupine Tree about 10 seconds before each of Porcupine Tree's songs end. Let him create the explosion from their setup. That would be incredibly powerful. They build such an incredible base, but just don't seem interesting in finishing.
