while I LOVE Modest Mouse, their live shows don't live up to the brilliance of their music. I've seen them twice in the past year and they failed to really impress me both times.

I wasn't crazy about them in '05, but I'd be willing to give 'em another chance. I think they're out with REM and The National though, and the dates didn't make Bonnaroo very likely.

Quite a distinction to make after two shows. The shows were a little different in the pre-Good News days. And if the venue is small they're usually intense.
I'd like to see them, and still love their old stuff... I just can't listen to anything from the last two albums. So, yeah, if they played mostly classics, I'd be happy, but I've heard bad things of their live shows, as well.
I love modest mouse!! i saw them in '05 at bonnaroo. it was probably my favorite show from that year. As far as living up to the brilliance of their music i would say they were totally amazing. ;D

their 2005 show at bonnaroo was horrible, then again, at that time i had never heard of them, so that's just my opinion although i've heard from several people they thought it sucked, but once their newer album came out i have really grown to like that album, they won't be there this year because of their tour schedule with rem and the national but if they ever play again i'll give them another chance
I saw the 05 show and it was my 3rd time seeing them, for me It was the worst show Iv ever seen at a Bonnaroo, I was really looking forward to it and I was so let down I left a lil after halfway thru.

Saw Bonnaroo in '05, and was very let down. That being said, I saw them at their own headlining show, in a setting where they could use their light set-up, and it was great. Seems like they are hit or miss.
^^ Yeah, their live shows in the past have had a reputation for being either spectacular or a complete disaster. They apparently used to have a problem with getting too messed up to play.
