I hope we see a solo set from him, and I am hopeful, based on the PJ shows I have been to in the past. I'd love to also see him do some Into the Wild stuff with the full band too:
I could totally see this happening. Anyone seen the move "Into the Wild"? All original songs by Eddie Vedder, mostly acoustic solo stuff, but some good ones. Good movie too

if eddie vedder plays a solo show at the sonic stage, you might as well find a tree to climb because you will not see him or hear him at all - any artist that big on the sonic stage is a mistake - my hopes are that he does a solo set somewhere in the pearl jam set - and with as long as pearl jam is known for playing a show, i'd take eddie solo minus half an hour of pearl jam time - he has to play songs from that soundtrack - those songs would be perfect at roo because they go well with the vibes at roo

Haven't seen the movie, but the book was worth the read.

Exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this thread. Some really good stuff. Reminds me of some of their earlier stuff

i would be at that stage in a heartbeat if he did a solo set because i love the songs he did for into the wild. the movie, the book, and the soundtrack are all amazing, IMO.

I am with you! I loved that soundtrack, and the movie was great. I really hope we see him do an acoustic solo set...

There's a possibility there'll be some unrecognizable name on the Roo schedule that turns out to be him.... Back in the 90's, Pearl Jam played a show at a real small club. they were booked as "the piss bottle men"
Vedder Warms Up For Solo Trek With Seattle Gigs Eddie Vedder March 26, 2008, 11:00 AM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder stunned Seattle fans who'd bought tickets for a screening of "Into the Wild" on Monday and Tuesday by instead performing a full solo set, in advance of the April 2 launch of his maiden solo tour.
Tickets to the gigs at Kenyon Hall were sold for $5 by Easy Street Records, with less than 150 people on hand each night. A number of fans who lined up outside the venue but were initially unable to get inside were treated to coffee by the Easy Street staff, before being ushered in gratis after the show had started.
Vedder played guitar for most of the shows but also strapped on a banjo for Cat Stevens' "If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out" and switched to harmonica, mandolin and ukulele on a host of other tunes.
As expected, the set lists mixed Pearl Jam tracks ("Around the Bend," "I Am Mine," "Dead Man") with songs from Vedder's "Into the Wild" soundtrack ("Guaranteed," "No Ceiling," "Society") and a bevy of covers (Bruce Springsteen's "Growin' Up," Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down," Bob Dylan's "Forever Young, Tom Waits' "Picture in a Frame").
Also performed were James Taylor's "Millworker," unreleased solo cuts like "Broken Hearted" and “You’re True,” and "No More," Vedder's contribution to the recent "Body of War" compilation album. Last night, the artist occasionally flubbed lyrics, but endeared the audience with apologies for Pearl Jam not having played in Seattle proper since the spring of 2005.
In related news, the guitar Vedder used to write the Pearl Jam song "Love Boat Captain" sold for $8,000 last night during a West Memphis 3 fundraiser at the New York home of Peter, Paul & Mary's Peter Yarrow. Pearl Jam has long been a vocal advocate for the innocence of the men, who were convicted of the 1993 murder of three eight-year-old boys in West Memphis, Ark.
A new hearing in the case, which will present DNA evidence defense attorneys claim exonerates the men, is scheduled for April 14.
I really hope that Eddie does do a solo act. That'd be incredible. Im sure he will throw a few of they songs of "Into the Wild" out there since he is doing the west coast tour. I'm just stoked about a long show from Pearl Jam. Nothing pumps me up more then to think of the greatest band on earth at bonnaroo.

Just when you think one concert can't top another, an artist comes along just to prove you wrong. Who could surpass the Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds at the Seeds of Compassion Benefit Concert? Come on. With a surprise opener like Death Cab for Cutie its somewhat unfathomable to beat that show let alone 24 hours later.
That's where I found myself. Five rows back center stage…slightly elevated...the absolutely most perfect seats-thank you 10Club by the way. Eddie said “I’ve played for a drinking crowd before” and a drinking crowd we all were. Including the a-hole in the balcony who would shut the f*ck up. Obviously toasted screaming Footsteps every five seconds.
The Wiltern. A classic 1920’s art deco theater. Reel to reel player, Corona box, large 1970’s speakers and a plethora of instruments-guitars, ukuleles, banjos, mandolins and the like. Into the Wild songs featured prominently intertwined with Cat Stevens-old favorites from the movie Harold and Maude. A few Pearl Jam classics. poop. Am I old enough to call them classics? Are the songs that old? Don’t forget Throw Your Arms---where’s the wienie roast and smores please. EVERYONE sang along at all the requisite places…
It was amazing—f*cking amazing. Finally a chance to see Eddie. Just Eddie. Show his musicianship free from the Pearl Jam trappings. Don’t get me wrong…I adore Pearl Jam…but its nice to see a different side of Ed (yes first names only) for more than just a song or two. His baritone voice—like buttah. Almost demur-shy in a way.
Eddie definitely felt the vibe and it didn’t take long for his rock star self to come through loud and clear albeit subdued. Dead Man Walking, Masters of War, Man of the Hour, Soon Forget, Porch, Arc…never in my wildest dreams did I EVER think I would see ARC live. Closing with Hard Sun he couldn’t help but do one of those kick-ass Eddie air jumps on the last chord. You can take the man out of the rock star, but you can’t take the rock star out of the man….well something like that anyways. Go ahead. Try and get your arms and legs around that one.
And while it’s a full two months before the trek to Tennessee, I know I’ve been blessed with an ever-so delicious Eddie appetizer before the Pearl Jam bounty at Bonnaroo. Here…have a taste…a few solo songs from the Berkeley show are here:
Tuolumne (Intro Music), Walking The Cow, Around The Bend, I Am Mine, Dead Man Walking, (God Is In Control*) (Limit Yourself**) / Masters Of War, I’m Open, Man Of The Hour, Setting Forth, Guaranteed (with Golden Globe Acceptance and Speech), No Ceiling, Far Behind, Rise, Millworker, Soon Forget, Broken Heart, Driftin’, You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away, Trouble, If You Want to Sing Out - Sing Out, I Won’t Back Down, Forever Young, Porch
Encore 1: Society (with Liam Finn), Throw Your Arms Around Me (with Liam Finn), No More, Arc
Encore 2: Growin' Up, Lukin, Hard Sun (with Liam Finn and Eliza Jane Barnes)***

A fantastic week-end for sure!
Shhh...don't tell anyone...I never listened to Pearl Jam until about 3 years ago. In the 90's I thought it too loud and too somber...same three notes etc. Well I started listening to Neil Finn several years ago, who played with Eddie for Seven Worlds Collide, and was impressed by his range and stage presence. I thought I'd give Pearl Jam a try and well, since it was the start of my divorce, the music really struck a chord with me. I went to the Gorge in 05, both shows Gorge 06, and Pearl Jam/U2 in Hawaii. Seeing Eddie solo the other night reminded me of how I came to like Pearl Jam in the first place and was well worth it. And to have the bootleg is even better!
