The Radiohead show in Grant Park 5 years ago was MASSIVE-maybe even more epic than the Bonnaroo show. Now, Radiohead is returning bigger than ever. Mark my words, their show at Lolla will be better than the one at Bonnaroo.

um...no it won't
i was at the Roo Radiohead performance. not only was it the longest set they've ever played...EVER...we also got to hear tracks from an album that wasn't released for a whole other year. they did numerous interviews post-roo where they said it was probably the best show they've ever done.
not to mention you had 80k people in a true community coming together to form a vibe lolla will never know.
i would love to go to lolla for RATM, but other than that, i'll stick with roo
I just hope that C3 has almost a good of a lineup for ACL as they do for Palooza. I am think both lineups will be good this year considering they have the extra money they didn't spend on Vineland.

i haven't been privy to the radiohead rumors, but i thought they might perform after i heard they were doing APW and lolla. could be wrong, but that would definitely make for an awesome show. i already know beck will be there, so that already makes it a tad better than last year for me. if beck went on before radiohead like they did at roo 06, it would be AWESOME

well i was at both shows. the grant park '01 show was pretty f'ing amazing..it was my first of 6 radiohead shows so far. I loved it. but it was completely different than the roo show. I really cant say which liked better and i am a huge fan. that being said the lolla show will not be as good because it is a festival show. by that i mean they wont be getting the special attention they received at roo (2.5 hour slot unopposed, etc). If it were just another radiohead show in grant park then perhaps. I know Thom & co really loved playing in that setting...but lolla will be a bit different than their last time playing there. either way i already got my $60 early ticket!

Lolla may not be a camping fest, but it's in downtown Chicago which is beautiful and always popping, and there are always after party shows sponsored by Lolla all over town. The year I went had Blackaliscious/Lyrics Born at the House of Blues, Sonic Youth at a small club, and The Brain Damaged Eggmen. Not bad.
Those are some incredible headliners. I love Bonnaroo like an old college buddy or more than most relatives, and plan to go until one of us dies, but I'm jealous of the headliners.

You weren't at the Radiohead show in '06, were you? Because if you were, I doubt you'd make that statement.

I LOVE camping festies + I LOVE the Bonnaroo lineup, but at the same time, camping festies in general + Roo in specific can be QUITE the endurance tests... GREAT endurance tests, but...
...there is something to say about having a kickarse day of music, and then crashing in your airconditioned hotel room at the end of the night, recharging, showering, and then doing it all again fresh the next day
NOTHING is greater than Bonnaroo in my opinion, but I have always been a cityboy, and will always love a good cityfest when I can

I hear ya on that! That is why I am doing one camping and one city fest this year. Get the best of both worlds. I having really nothing to compare Bonnaroo to, so I can't really dis on a festival like Lolla, but I have heard nothing but good things about it as well. Deffiently a different kind of best from roo though.
Well, the headliners are strong enough that it convinced me to buy a Lollapalooza ticket. So it looks like I'll be doing both Bonnaroo & Lollapalooza this year.
But with these 2 events come sacrifices. I'll have to miss Foo Fighters in July, Radiohead in Indy in August, & Counting Crows in August.
But this still is going to be an amazing musical summer for me:
Pearl Jam Radiohead Rage Metallica Robert Plant & Allison Krauss Kanye West NIN Wilco MMJ Sigur Ros Raconteurs all in one summer?
I'm going to need to hire a plastic surgeon to fix my face after it has been melted off by all the rock
I say meh. to the lollapalooza lineup I have seen every band there in better conditions. As to Radiohead doing better than 'roo 06, well I dont like Radiohead very much and that was still one of the best shows I have ever seen I don't think a 90 minute set at lolla is gonna top it.
Nine Inch Nails are comparable to Metallica in my book. Two bands well past their prime, still trying to reach an audience.
I'm sorry, but this just isn't true. I've seen NIN in the past 3 years and their live show has got to be in my top 5 shows of all time. It's crazy good. They are far from being past their prime.
best avatar ever. great lineup for lolla, maybe I will figure out how to get up there for it, would love to see radiohead twice in a summer, along with raconteurs
Meh. Nice to see Radiohead heading back to the park, but nothing will match their Grant Park show from 2001 -- even the Roo show didn't top that. The undercard at Lolla is always a bit too predictable for me to head home for this. Maybe another year!
You know out of curiosity what is the source of this lineup, I have certainly not seen anything official, I am calling Shenanigans this dude may have just fallen victim to a late april fools joke or something. Unless someone knows different.

Yeah but there is no camping there.
And we had Radiohead 2 years ago. Pretty much we miss out on NIN and RATM, I'm perfectly fine w/ that. Especially after meeting Tom Morello at Bonnaroo last year:)
maybe roo's camping experience trumps other fests (i agree 100%, that's why i go), but would most people on here honestly say they wouldn't trade metallica, PJ, and JJ for radiohead, NIN, and rage?? if you take lolla's headliners and combine them with bonnarroo's "undercard" and atmoshpere, i can't imagine a better festival. honestly.

thats the point. the "undercard" is what makes roo the best hands down.

Biggest diff of all to me...
At Bonnaroo, I could care less who headlines and don't need a lineup announcement to know I am going, ... at EVERY other fest, I do... and based on this, Lolla's lookin' REAL good right now
Not a Radiohead fan (blasphemy, i know) but this lineup definetely seems stronger than Bonnaroo this year.
I'm not a Radiohead fan either (there goes my karma), but I disagree. Seeing RATM and NIN at a festival sort of ruin the whole thing. NIN at a festival would just plain be a disappointment.
Trent himself has said that he would rather not play festivals.
thats the point. the "undercard" is what makes roo the best hands down.
and ill take PJ over NIN and Rage in a heartbeat.
the camping at roo is everything, which is why i still got 1st price level tickets 4 minutes after they went on sale even though i was extremely unpleased with the initial announcement.
i totally agree about the undercard, but i also have some major headliner envy. it would be one thing if we didn't have goddam metallica, but lolla getting two vastly superior "heavy" artists just pisses me off all over again.
