Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm actually looking forward to having a bed in an air conditioned room to sleep in after the shows at Lolla. I love Roo to death, but the whole survival trip wears me down. Maybe I'm just getting old. I'll be back to Roo for sure, but Lolla will be a welcomed break this year. I will miss the overall vibe though. Lolla will never be able to match that.

Meh. Nice to see Radiohead heading back to the park, but nothing will match their Grant Park show from 2001 -- even the Roo show didn't top that. The undercard at Lolla is always a bit too predictable for me to head home for this. Maybe another year!
karma. i guess i didnt have the guts to come out and say that i liked the 2001 grant park show better. it truly was. but yes, lolla's show will not compare to either that show or roo.
maybe roo's camping experience trumps other fests (i agree 100%, that's why i go), but would most people on here honestly say they wouldn't trade metallica, PJ, and JJ for radiohead, NIN, and rage?? if you take lolla's headliners and combine them with bonnarroo's "undercard" and atmoshpere, i can't imagine a better festival. honestly.
thats the point. the "undercard" is what makes roo the best hands down.
and ill take PJ over NIN and Rage in a heartbeat.
the lolla "undercard" tends to smash bonnaroo every year. Maybe its just personal taste, but hwatever.
The Lollapalooza undercard is usually chock full of Indie bands that are irrelevant the next year. They have good headliners this year, but I'm looking for a great festival experience so I'm happy I'm going to Bonnaroo.

I can honestly say that I would not want to trade Metallica, Pearl Jam, and Jack Johnson for Radiohead, NIN, and Rage.
It's funny because objectively speaking, I prefer the Lollapalooza headliners. But I'm not as in awe or jealous as I was when I first saw it. It's kind of boring, to be honest. NIN, RATM, Radiohead...all big names. But I'm only a casual NIN fan, I'm not really into RATM and Radiohead's coming to Texas with the Liars opening for them and I'm seeing it from the 10th row. So I guess I say, so fucking what?
Radiohead, NIN & RATM > PJ, Metallica and Jack Johnson. But I'm going to Bonnaroo, and I won't ever go to Lollapalooza, barring an appearance by Tom Waits, Throbbing Gristle or The Knife.
And overall, if I had to pick set of headliners from an American fest this year, I might have to go with Coachella...
They always have great headliners. They had The Stooges, Daft Punk, and Muse, among others last year. They're a lot more willing to be more diverse in their lineup, for sure. Bonnaroo still has the best set up, though. The late night atmosphere trumps all other festivals

Not this year. There's no way. Bonnaroo's undercard this year is ridiculous. Look at Saturday on the unofficial inforoo schedule. Nasty. I still don't know what the hell they're doing with Metallica on the lineup, but the undercard is bonkers.
I would trade PJ for Rage any day of the week. They are the only headliner at 'roo that I really don't like. And Rage is the only headliner at Lolla that I would want to take from them.
I dont know which Lolla lineups you folks have been looking at in the past, but I can't find one that matches the quality or the diversity of Bonnaroo's the past couple of years. If you look at the past few Lolla lineups "undercards", theyre just chock full of hipster indie groups that come and go with each season of the OC. Bonnaroo actually seems to think and care about its lineup, instead of how much cred it has with Pitchfork.

lollapalooza always has a better lineup in my opinion; it's a lot more diverse and special. Look at the healiners from last year;
Daft Punk (plays very few US shows) Ben Harper Pearl Jam (they played one North American show last year- Lollapalooza) Muse (very few US shows) Interpol Iggy and the Stooges
Bonnaroo 07
The Police (had a huge tour going) Tool (pretty rare, but shitty in my opinion) Widespread Panic White Stripes Ben Harper
Finally, Lolla ALWAYS has a better undercard. There is such a huge selection of bands- the one reason why Bonnaroo might be better is because bands have longer to play.
also, i agree that bonnaroo has an unbeatable latenight atmosphere (this will be my first year, so I can only imagine). But in terms of lineup diversity and quality, I still feel Lolla is better than Bonnaroo.

Things we may have forgotten here
Galactic with a more than diverse lineup of hip hop bands Flaming Lips Not "rare" but music is not pokemon card collecting Govt Mule WITH John Paul Jones rockin out Zeppelin tunes These were are at the same time by the way 4.5 hour Sasha Digweed set Ornette Coleman nuff said One of the last ten String Cheese shows Ben Harper with ?uestlove and John Paul Jones at Super Jam
With the exception of Amy Winehouse and Iggy I dont see much of the Lolla undercard that came close to this.

While I respect your opinion, I am utterly perplexed as to how you could think the Lolla line-up is more diverse than Bonnaroo.
Also, while overlooking the line-ups from previous years, I recall another reason I love Bonnaroo so much. I'm in the middle of a field in TN looking for What Stage, This Tent, Which Stage, The Other Tent, etc . . . If I went to Lolla, I'd be in the middle of the city looking for the AT&T stage, the Bud Light Stage, and the MySpace stage . . . lame.

Personally I think you've got little to no credibility trying to compare Bonnaroo to something if you've never even been... Bands step it up at the Roo like you wouldn't believe, and the ones you'd least expect to be entertaining will easily be some of your most memorable shows.
The real question we should ask ourselves is how do I (we) want to spend my (our) hard earned $$$$?
Lolla...
GREAT lineup, Awesome city to be in. Though: short sets, no camping, no being in the middle of no where, no intimate settings spread out throughout, NO LATE NIGHT?!?!?!.
Bonnaroo...
No NIN or Radiohead, Gets hot, Dusty. Though: Long sets, Camping, in-the-middle-of-no-where, intimate feeling even though there are 80,000 other people, LATE NIGHT!
i don't know to much about lollapalooza, except that the name doesn't roll that easily off the tongue. in a name screaming contest bonnaroo wins. BONNAROOOOO!!

I think pitchfork gives lolla much more cred then they have ever given roo.
The bottom of Bonnaroo's bill is VERY Pitchfork friendly this year. Especially when they had Black Kids on the bill...
I agree but Pitchfork didn't throw much cred towards Roo. Lolla has a much more Pitchfork-friendly line up. Go to pitchfork now and they have multiple columns about lolla's line up and just that one single column for Roo the day that the lineup was announced.
And let's not always concern ourselves with Pitchfork- often their self-fellating gets in the way of actual taste. They've had several recent reviews where clearly they did the bare minimum of listening and research in order to take as severe a cynical dump on albums as possible. Often you can trust them, but they are less and less consistent. Esp. now that they have their own fest.
