Holy sh*t -- these are some SERIOUS acts for the Cafe setting?!?
Cornmeal, The Duhks, Howlin Rain, The Greencards, Jake Shimabukuro -- really, these are all semi-big draws for a smaller festival and there is plenty of other goodness to go around there. If this goes official, it will also be official that I'll be missing more music that I really want to see than any other Bonnaroo in the past. Not complaining by ANY stretch, just saying...
I'm going to have to put together a new strategy for this year.
My strategy will not include passing out for hours at a time during prime afternoon hours, passing out in port-a-johns, or passing out during sets I'm really digging. It will include, but will not be limited to, intense being awakeness during prime afternoon hours, intense being awakeness while utilizing all portable lavatories, and intense being awakenss during sets I'm really digging. I figure from there, I can build a solid foundation to work off of.

They did a hell of a job with the cafe acts this year, that's for sure. There's five cafe acts I really want to see this year: The Big Sleep, the everybodyfields, Extra Golden, Nomo, and Phonograph. I'm also interested in seeing Bombadil, Colour Revolt, Howlin Rain, Jyspsi (have you seen the brunette in their photo???), Rotary Downs, Sometymes Why, and The Afromotive. While I'm glad about all these great acts, it's also going to unfortunately cause more conflicts.
Efff.Efff.Effff. Extra Golden. I just jumped out of my seat. I can now go to work happy. I care nothing about Pitchfork festival. K'NAAN is rather sweet as well.
Awesome acts! Someone mentioned before but it's worth mentioning agai.: De Novo Dahl is an awesome band from the Nashville, I love them!!! So glad they're making it to the festival scene!! They are definitely worth checking out beforehand and most definitely at Roo. Good dancing music
Howlin Rain is some pretty good stuff! Stephanie's ID...representing my hometown of Asheville!!!
DITTO! Saw Howlin Rain with Dax Riggs and QOTSA back in Sept. Stephanie's ID is pretty chill but I will prob pass that up since I have already seen them a couple of times. I look forward to Cornmeal! Feck! It's gonna be a tough schedule.
"Ok I'm sure this is a stupid rookie question but what exactly is the Cafe, set up wise and stuff? "
There are actually three cafe tents. They are small tents that hold about a one or two hundred people. One of them is at the back of the main stage area at the end of the vendors. Two of them are in Centeroo. Bands play in them throughout the day and late night. Though the cafes can be very cool and hold some sick surprises in store, I usually end up missing almost all of the cafe shows because of everything at the tents and stages. They are a great part of the festival though.

I saw The Duhks a couple of years ago at Festival International in Lafayette, LA and they put on a pretty good show. It turns out that they are playing again at Festival International again this year, we had already planned to check them out again.
BTW, if anyone is in the Lafayette, LA area for the last weekend in April, the festival is free, there are tons of bands from all over the world. It's not a camping festival, but it is free to attend. I go every year.

Sometimes you can end up watching a pretty cool cafe act with just a half dozen people. It's very intimate.
Colour Revolt, Dead Confederate, De Novo Dahl, The Big Sleep. That's some quality Cafe Acts. In the four years I've been to Roo I've not once checked out the cafe. . . that may change this year.
