Hi Joey, sorry about that. I should have put pop country or CMT country or something. Those other folks have a little more bluegrass or are a little more less mainstream compared to Dierks. Ah well, sorry for the goof none the less. -Tim
I hate that they only label the mainstream stuff as country. Earl Scruggs is way more country than Rascal Flatts could ever hope to be.

What about Robert Earl Keen in '04, I guess he's not pop country, but you don't get anymore hard core country than that. When you have a song about Copenhagen, your pretty hard core.
Did anyone else go check out Dierks last year? He just happened to be playing during a break where there was nothing we wanted to see, so we wandered over to check it out and laugh. It was funny...the crowd was weird. It seemed to be mostly older people who looked really out of place at Bonnaroo. I was just like "where did these people come from?" Needless to say, we did not stick around very long, but it was certainly "interesting."
If Kenny Chessney were to come to Roo, I'd check it out to see what the big f'n deal is with this guy. I know so many people that goes to his shows everytime he comes here, and he comes once a year, easily Columbia's most common big act.

Sam Bush and Buddy Miller were guests for extended parts of the set - completely worth seeing. AND....there was the topless girl on the guy's shoulders just in front of the stage. I bet Dierks and the band don't see that at their other gigs......

I stopped by for a few songs. The topless girl, who he commented on in his intro to "Free and Easy" was a nice bonus.
most of the primo bluegrass/country-ish artists that come to roo would recoil in horror at being labeled "country music" at this point. if there is any genre as repetitive and stagnant as mainstream hip-hop, it's mainstream country.

I noticed the same thing at the Ralph Stanley show (about 1/2 hippies, 1/2 older crowd that you described above). I talked to a couple of older women for a while. They said that they were Manchester residents who were given passes and came over to check out a couple of the bands. I imagine that was probably what you were seeing as well. It made me think that Superfly gave out a good number of tickets to the local community.
He is more Pop Country, although he isnt ruining country music as much as the rest of the crap on CMT, hes a pretty good gyuitar player and hhes on the Grand Ole Oprey. But no hes not the first Bluegrass/Country has been a big part of Bonnaroo Del McCoury Band,Doc Watson(was awesome in 2004),Earl Scruggs,YMSB,Shooter Jennings,Hot buttered Rum String Band. You have to look a lot further that CMT to find real country music these days.
