...if it's just him and an acoustic guitar for 3 hours I'll probably head back to the camp after about 30 minutes.
I know almost nothing about the man but the samples I've tried seem to include a band. A solo headliner would indeed be a bit weird.
He is touring with a band, which includes Zach Gill, the singer/keyboardist from ALO. Not sure who else is in his band. But, I too, am expecting lots of guests. Jack's got a LOT of friends.

I did not know Zach Gill was in Jack Johnson's touring band. Saw ALO in Atlanta last summer in a very small bar and talked to Zach after the show. Complimented me on my Black Sabbath tee. Such a revelation might make me attend his show.
This is why ALO doesn't have any dates scheduled this summer. The only one they've got is the Outside Lands Festival, yet another festival where Jack Johnson is playing. That being said, I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I wouldn't completely rule out an ALO add.
Ive got no problem with Jack Johnson headlining Sunday. Sunday is the least important headliner day for me, seeing as how if I dont like the act, I can leave. BUT I have to say, I much prefer Jack Johnson to say...Widespread Panic. I certainly plan on at least catching SOME of Jack's set.
on the hand where some folks are saying that the 3 headliners this year are the weakest in Bonnaroo history, I just have to say...this year there are 2 headliners that I absolutely wont miss, and one that I will probably catch some of. Last year there was only 1 headliner that I cared to watch at all. I say last year, headliner-wise, even with an AMAZING Tool set, was weaker than this year.
Doesnt matter though. Remember, there are 120+ bands on the bill. It's lame to get hung up on just 3.
Not to make this even more confusing, but I started another thread about it. The ONLY reason that I think there may be something else is the lack of confirmation of Pearl Jam's "day." I just recall that by this point, we have always had confirmation of what day the headliners were performing. Especially a band as big as Pearl Jam. They are supposed to THE headliner, and that is too odd that they haven't confirmed Saturday yet.

i really dont think they could possibly add anyone bigger pearl jam if that's what you're getting at.. superfly has been trying to get them for YEARS and finally did ... theyre headlining.
still, i believe there will be a big annoucement soon... but it wont be the sat night headliner.
I like how Jack is headlining the final day of Bonnaroo, but headlining the opening day of Coachella. I have no problems with Jack, but it seems like a lot of other people do. I agree that lots of people will go see Jack because he is widely popular, but I am still pulling for a Phish reunion. If Coachella announced Prince 2 weeks prior to it starting, Roo should be able to get Phish. And who knows, since Jack is so popular, maybe he can pull up incredible special guests onstage with him.
i really dont think phish reuniting is for Bonnaroo to decide, if the members dont want to reunite no festival is going to have Phish. I dont see the logic here.

Even if Phish did get back together, I'm not so sure it would be a good thing for them to play Bonnaroo. Don't get me wrong, their perfect for 'roo and all, but the festival would sell out in 25 minutes, and many of us veterans would get shut out. Meanwhile, you would literally have about 25,000 more gate crashers than usual. Like Becca said, Phish would do their own festival, and for good reason.
I agree and disagree. If they're doing a one-off type thing, it's definitely going to be on their home turf. But if they do a full blown tour, I don't see how Bonnaroo would pass up on the opportunity to grab Phish, even if they weren't exclusive.
It's Phish. It's probably the most desired headliner Roo could get outside of maybe Pink Floyd or Zeppelin.

i never said that Bonnaroo could get Phish to reunite. I understand that it is up to Phish if they want to get back together or not. I'm just saying it would be sweet if Bonnaroo hosted a Phish reunion... that is all.
And they wouldn't announce them right away and have it sell out that quick. They would hold off for a big announcement towards the end... that way all of the veterans have already bought their tickets.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
I know everyone thinks that "when" Phish gets back together, they will have their own festival. I'm not sure they want to risk another fiasco like Coventry. Phish has no organization right now to speak of. Putting up a huge festival (which it would have to be if it's Phish) doesn't seem reasonable. I got the impression that they were really upset over what happened at Coventry. I went to IT and even that was really a pain getting into.
So playing something like Roo doesn't sound unreasonable. But I don't know how they would announce something like that. I just don't see Phish starting a festival from scratch any time soon.

I agree. I think we're getting Zep or Phish. I hope we are I should say. It sucks that we're not getting allmans though cause that pretty much takes Warren out of the mix. Unless he just shows up....which I guess is possible. Im not super down due to having seen about 6 Allman shows already, but they're always fun in the bonnaroo sun. Anyway, are we for sure that Kanye is gonna be a late night show? I hope so because Im sure his whole stage show is pretty much geared for darkness being as its called "Glow In The Dark". Ive been jamming some Coup since they were added and I gotta say Im pretty stoked to see them for sure. What are the chances of them moving JJ to the Allman's spot and introducing a new headliner? Es possible'? I dont want to come down on Jack, I just dont think he can play for more than an hour and a half without getting repetitive. Plus his music is sunny music as well. Maybe it is just the superjam we're gonna get on Thursday though. I totally agree with Jack being a better headliner than Panic. Ive about had my fill of Panic at Bonnaroo. Im still pulling for this stuff on Thursday:
Zeppelin Phish Ryan Adams Modest Mouse Ray Lamontange Colin Hay The Mars Volta Tenacious D?
there is no way phish is gonna play roo, its just not going to happen. and saying jack johnson is better than WSP is like saying solid shit is better than wet loose shit, either way its still shit. its gonna be awesome seeing Jack play the same song over and over for 2 hours, when it should be Phill tearing shit up for 4 hours. what ever tho.

First of all...WTF with people dissing on Jack Johnson? If you don't like it go build a drum or rest or something and have fun till it's done. I will be dancing and singing with a ton of others on that same plane and that's what we'll do. I see someone mentioned about White Stripes last year...yes they were a headliner and the show ROCKED!!! Sunday is a different day, and the White Stripes played an earlier show even though they're a headliner...I guess that I assumed that Jack Johnson would be playing that same slot this year? There will be great things for all to see....personally I don't care for Metallica enough to see an entire show and so I will watch some, and go build a drum as there hasn't been any time for me to do that in the past few years that I have gone. Lets be realistic and be excited for Thursday's announcement!!! You KNOW it's gonna be killer no matter what! Roo would not, could not and has not let us down!!!
I think the people that are mad are ony mad on the condition that as of right now it seems as tho Jack is going to close out sunday night and he doesnt deserve to close out sunday night.
