I couldn't narrow it down, but if anyone gets the chance, a great underrated movie is Around the Fire. It is about experiencing music and drugs and getting so drawn in that you go on tour. Devon Sagawa and Tara Reid are in it and it has a great soundtrack. If anyone has seen it I would be interested to hear what you thought.
Here are mine in no particular order: Lost Highway/Blue Velvet (I'm not sure which I like better) Raising Arizona I Heart Huckabees Best in Show True Stories
I liked Rushmore okay, but its not my favorite of the Wes Anderson movies. That probably goes to the Life Aquatic. It's been a long time since I have seen Rushmore, so I don't feel right saying exactly how I feel about it!
Not really in any order I love them all 1) Adaptation 2) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 3) 28 Days Later 4) The Royal Tennebaums 5) Star Wars Trilogy (Esp 4-6)
Adaptation is a good one; sometimes either it or Eternal Sunsine shows up on my top five (my top five everything lists tend to change according to my moods!)
OK, since my list from last year is pretty obscure, here are my favorite "Hollywood" movies produced in my lifetime:
Mulholland Drive Eyes Wide Shut Do the Right Thing A.I. Stop Making Sense Rushmore
If you like Adaptation and/or Eternal Sunshine, you might want to check out this:
It's the third of the four movies that Charlie Kaufman wrote (first Being John Malkovich and Adaptation directed by Spike Jones, then Human Nature and Eternal Sunshine directed by Michel Gondry). It's weird. For some reason it didn't get the full-on marketing push that his other movies did. I think its hilarious and thought provoking. Maybe not quite as mind-bending as his other films but weird enough that the marketing team decided "we can't sell this". Patricia Arquette has a thick coat of body hair. Mice are taught to use silverware. Adults wear diapers. As you can tell from the DVD cover, it's "A hoot".Personally I like Eternal Sunshine the best out of the four and consider the other three flawed but highly entertaining.

I've seen Human Nature =/ I really didn't like it all that much. I'm not sure why, to be honest. The directing was good, the acting was good, and I worship the ground Charlie Kaufman walks on, but something about it just... I dunno. I couldn't get into it.

I can see why people didn't get into Human Nature. Sort of out there, but I thought it was hilarious. Definitely better than Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and on par with Being John Malkovich in my estimation. Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine are his best so far though...

I forgot about Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (which I actually haven't seen). The four I mentioned are Kaufman's four original scripts. I think his thing previous to Eternal Sunshine was that he couldn't really write endings. He always had me hook line and sinker for the first hour and then lost me by the end. I think Eternal Sunshine works all the way through, but I attribute a lot of that to Michel Gondry's direction too. Along with Wes Anderson, Gondry is my favorite director working in Hollywood right now (although his next movie "The Science of Sleep" is in French).
So, how do you vote for the ones they play in the tent?
I think they just did that in '04. There was no vote last year.
Ka mai, have you seen Michel Gondry's Directors Label DVD? It's got a bunch of his videos, a couple of short films, commercials, etc. It's pretty cool. Some of his videos are really fantastic!
