i must say that i saw oar at record time in detroit about a year ago and ratehr enjoyed. was going to go to their show at the state theatre that evening but it was sold out. so was excited to see them at bonnaroo last year and was severly disappointed. rather lackluster show. the only bright spot was a cover of sunday bloody sunday. the saw them about two months later with robert randolph and the roots and again thought the show was kind of boring.

Yea, they only had an hour set and that was during their tour where they were promoting their new album, O.A.R. at bonnaroo last year def wasnt the best i've seen them preform, catch them when they are headlining a show and have about a 2-3 hour set, they are amazing live.

OAR peeked a long time ago as far as I'm concerned. I saw them 4 times between my fresh and soph year in high school ('97-'98) they put on some great shows then. I haven't seen them since soph year when they played "Crazy Game of Poker" 3 times that night. It was not like they jammed into another song and came back to it either. They started and finshed it 3 times.
Have they cahnged at all or does everything still sound alike?

I saw them last summer when they opened for 311 and thought it was a great show. The crowd was almost as into them as 311. Crazy Game of Poker is one of my favorite songs... I would have loved that show you're talking about fluffhead!
Hello, oarfans! I've been lurking this board for a while but never looked at the off-topic forum until today... glad I did.
Fluffhead, you might be suprised at the changes in the band between then and now. If you saw them in 97 they were still in high school, and they've grown in leaps and bounds since then. But hey, if they're not your thing, they're not your thing... I'm still pissed I missed them last year but I graduated from college on the 14th of June and couldn't make it.
Looing forward to tons of other great bands this year though! ;D
Like many bands, I don't really think they fit neatly in one particular category. When they play covers it's a lot of Bob Marley, U2, Beatles, Led Zeppelin... sorry if that isn't very helpful. In news articles they are often compared to DMB, which fans of both bands will vehemently deny.
