Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Seeing as to how we've all been telling our ages, where we work, and posting pictures of our sweet looking buses, I got to wondering what do you all do for fun and relaxing. I'm a kid at heart, I doubt I'll ever act my age, kinda like my Dad. I love cars, I have a pretty nice collection on Hot Wheels, and car models. A lot of VW and Mini Coopers. I have way too many Star Wars toys and legos. So many books I don't have enough shelves for them all. When in season every Sunday I'm either camped out in front of the TV watching Bengals football, thank God for Marvin Lewis it's too much fun watching them play now. I'm a huge movie buff as well. When it's nice out I like to play Disc golf, go hiking and camping and play paintball. I'm kinda sad this year cause the huge game I usually play is the same weekend as Bonnaroo, so I'll miss it. Too many good times there. 400 people, 65 acres, 8 flag stations and all profits go to charity. It's great. Oh yeah and nothing beats sitting on my front porch with some buddies drinking a beer and watching the world go by. We have a few bats that come out to play in the front and side yard, it's kinda funny watching them fly around, even when they dive bomb the porch. So what do you do for fun?

I sleep a lot. I also like to play (or hang out) w/ my friends and I go to the bars a lot. I like to watch tv and movies and I like taking pictures. I like listening to music and laying out and spending money (which I don't have). I guess I'm really a kid at heart too b/c I like to decorate my room with anything bright and colorful that I can get my hands on. (My friends say that it looks like a rainbow exploded in here and that it looks like a kids room.) I like reading and dancing and traveling and procrastinating so I don't have to study.(which is what I'm doing right now) I don't know...I don't have any real hobbies, like building ships in bottles or anything, but that's just some stuff that I like to do! ;D
My fiance and I are WAY behind in planning our July 30 wedding so these days I feel guilty any time I'm not working on that.
I somehow find the time to maintain my interests:
-DVD collecting. I have about 300 now. I've gotten into a lot of classic stuff (especially Buster Keaton) and foreign stuff.
If I ever get around to saving up for a DV camera I've got some ideas....
-I play bass and was in a band for five years until the end of last summer. Band + Job + Girlfriend=way more obligations than time. Not much time for hobbies. Now I just do the music thing on my own with a cheapo 4-track, drum machine, keyboard and guitar along with my decent bass gear. I really want to upgrade my recording gear and get more into working with beats. Once my life calms down (post-wedding), I wouldn't mind playing out again if I can find a situation that's "just for the sake of doing it/ for fun" instead of "super serious/ambitious".
-I read a lot of non-fiction. History, Film theory, Philosophy, Religion, layperson Science books. Recently "Understanding Power: A Noam Chomsky Reader" and "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn have had a HUGE effect on me.
-I get to about a dozen White Sox games a year (5 already so far this year ;D) and one Bears game every year. I read a lot of baseball stuff as well (I'm a full-fledged "objective analysis" convert).
I'm a true adult and don't do that KIDDIE stuff anymore. Na, I'm a father of three and my wife and I play harder than the kids do.
We are a disc golf family. I met my wife through the sport and now our oldest daughter (9) is playing. We have a huge phamily of disc golfers in Sarasota.
We don't have a ton of time for other hobbies, but we stay really busy with 3 youngins and full time jobs.
I love good music and have turned my wife into a music phanatic as well. I toured with the Dead back in the day and started seeing Phish in '89 and have been hooked ever since.
I am a board rider of all sorts. Skate, Snow and Wake, but here on the West Coast of Fla. we only have concrete for skateboarding and I don't have time or money for wakeboarding. I still make trips to my old stomping grounds in CO. and ride, especially on my business trips out there.
I am getting back into Ultimate shape and will be playing rec leagues this year. My goal is to get back to the competitive level and play in the Masters Division for Miami Refugees in 2 years.
My main hobby is being Daddy and Husband, that gives me the satisfaction that nothing else could ever bring.

I seem to drift from project to project. The latest one's been restoring a 1979 Coleman popup camper (to bring to the 'Roo, naturally) on the weekends. Had lots of fun with that.
Being a husband is also time-consuming, in a sort of non-specific way.
What else? We camp a lot. All over New York. Maine a couple summers ago. Maryland last year.
Hit a half-dozen or more good shows a year (Dead, Allmans, Phish, whatever comes along).
And we travel. Just about every weekend in my summer is booked with a trip to somewhere. Friends, family (i.e. next weekend is home for Dad's birthday AND a Willie Nelson show!), whatever.
In the fall, I hunt when I can--which usually amounts to just a few weekends. I usually don't catch more than a cold, but I dearly love it. I go sit under a tree and just grok the nature. It's very soothing for the soul. Once in a while a deer wanders by and I attempt (usually unsuccessfully) to convert it into steaks--venison's just about my favorite dish.
And I like to cook. Anything. Baking, grilling, four-burners-and-a-microwave rockin' out a feast, just because. You name it, I'll try it.
Love watching football all afternoon on Sunday. Try to hit a Bills game annually, 'cause they're close, but the Bengals are my boys. The one or two games that make TV here in Rochester each season are usually an excuse for a party.
Started backpacking last summer and am hoping to go again this year.
Honk on the sax occasionally. Just quit the band a few weeks ago, though. They just weren't going where I wanted to. (Long story, but suffice it to say that if you're a "jam band" you should, occasionally, you know...jam; not just play the same stuff pretty much the same way every time.)
That's a little sample for y'all. Maybe a little scattered, but that's sort of what it's like to be The Jay.
Great post!! Lets see, I like to do anything fun. I'll try almost anything once. In the summer I enjoy golfing (never have tried the disc golf alot of you talk about) I used to play softball but now I enjoy watching my 13 year old daughter play. She's a pitcher and a damn good one if I may brag. Besides going to shows I also enjoy going to NASCAR races with my friends. I've been to quite a few tracks. Most people think it's a boring sport but once you've been to an actual race, it's hard not to love it. In the winter I'm a bowler. Well, at least I try to be.

husband also but not a parent..of children anyway. wife is animal control officer so we do some adoption things on the side to help find homes...right now we own 3 wolves, 1 greyhound, 2 cats, 1 chameleon, 4 ducks, 2 chickens and a big fishtank with fish. oh and a horse named Rubix.
i play softball for my job once a week and find that to be extremely fun and i love getting out there and mixing it up. i like playing on my foosball table too when we hang out with the buds.
huge sports fanatic. Florida State grad so love the Seminoles. Atlanta Braves, Falcons and Hawks are my pro teams. wife is also a Bengals fan. bought her a Peter Warrick jersey. wish i could go to more pro games. never been to a falcons or hawks game although been a fan since i was a kid (i'm 31).
i like disc golf on occasions when i can find the time. also have a garden that I expanded yesterday and find that to be extremely good for the mind( I recommend all of you grow something even if it's just one pepper plant).
but that's about it. i've really been thinking lately about getting a hobby where i can create something with wood like coffee tables but will probably wait till we buy our house first(our very first house, hopefully with at least 5 acres on it).
I love all you Bengals fans, no really words cannot express my feelings for you guys. Bengals fans outside of cincy. Brings a tear to my eye. Ok enough with the scarcasm, I do like the fact that there are Bengals fans outside my city. That's just too cool. What do you think of the new jerseys? I like em. Not a fan of the orange ones, but meh.
I like to play guitar about every free chance i get, been at it for about a year now and i'm not too shabby.... but my main passion is freestyle BMX. Not a lot for skateparks in MN but we got a sweet one in town. Go up to Minneapolis every few weeks and hit the parks up there. fun stuff....
Music and movies. I like to collect both (DVDs and CDs) and also go see both. When I'm not going to movies or concerts or playing my PS2, I'll usually play guitar. I also like to keep up on news and politics just to stay informed, and I like to take pictures. I guess I'd consider myself an amatuer photographer/filmmaker. I've done a few films from when I was at college. Other than that it's checking this board everyday.
I enjoy trying new things, be it listening to new tunes, checking out new films, trying yoga classes etc. I'm a single mom, so I don't have a lot of free time, but I make the most of the time I get! I love cooking, and most recently have tried my hand at Thai food. I think it went pretty well...
I enjoy canoeing, camping and communing with nature. I always leave the area where I have camped etc., in much better shape than when I arrived. I love to fish, but am a proponent of catch and release. I play a mean game of pool, and have a collection of about 10,000 albums from the '60's on thru today. I am a recent devotee of jam music, having just discovered this style, so, needless to say, Bonnaroo is an excellent chance to catch a bunch of bands I've only heard about. Recently I was introduced to the band Ween, and find their stuff to be daring, almost Zappa-esque in their humor and approach to music.

The things I like to do............?
I collect CDs, close to 500(store bought) I live on concerts, but unfortunately Toledo has a very bad reputation for live shows so I have to go to Columbus most of the time. I try to get in at least a show a month.
I like to try beer. Any kind of beer from anywhere in the world. My dad proves to helpful with this, because he collects beer cans from all over the world. So I help him out. I also try to collect uncommon Tshirts.
I also love the normal partying, sneeking into bars, watching TV, movies, and just chillin'.
i'm too freakin' busy to have hobbies ......hmmmm..... i try to make it to as many phish shows as i can afford......i have recently discovered a new found respect for widespread since seeing them last year, so i think i will try to go to more of their shows in the near future...... hiking and herping during the field season.......that's about all i got..... raven
I enjoy music...both listening to it and playing it. I love to travel but it becomes expensive after a while. Soccer is a big hobby of mine, as is sailing and going to the beach. Reading, writing, and painting are activities I wish I had more time for (especially reading) but somehow they get squeezed out of my schedule. Hanging out and relaxing is always fun too.
Music -- no I don't play just listen and watch..live music is best but I have alot of store bought... mostly Dead, STring Cheese, Yonder but everyone in my family listens to different music and I enjoy it all Husband Classic Rock- oldest son country Youngest son hip hop..
My dog -- Denali --She was an Avalanche Rescue Dog.. took a lot of time and love to train. (I had to put her down in December.) I plan on getting another one when I am ready.

I'm a huge White Sox fan too. If I ever get over to Chicago we'll have to burn a couple and go to a game. Hopefully they can beat out the damn Twins this year and make it to the playoffs!!!!
Organized religion destroys who we are by inhibiting our actions... by inhibiting our decisions, out of... out of fear of some... some intangible parent figure who... who shakes a finger at us from thousands of years ago and says... and says, "Do it - Do it and I'll fu(kin' spank you."
For all you film fans, if you haven't checked out Netflix.com, you definitely should. As far as hobbies go, disc golf is becoming an obsession. I like drinking beer and watching the Cubs. Yeah, that's right, I'm a south-side Cubs fan. I like posting on this message board. I love love love music of all kinds. I love discovering new bands. My most recent discovery is a blue-grass band called Leadfoot. They play at bars around the neighborhood. They can throw it down. I'm being seriously.

I love to hike, ride my bike, rollerblade, and camp. I get into football, go bears! I love seeing live music. I am addicted to it! Huge festivals or a good band at a bar.
I also love arts and fine craft. I sew, knit, make jewlrey, stained glass, pottery, and just recently got into making glass beads.
Back country canoeing and camping any activtiy in the great outdoors... throwing bocce balls with my friends is a daily hobby! Music, Music, Music concerts festival season or anything I can get. BBQ's, Beer, Great people! Winter time...watching the Maple Leafs, playing in the snow and I finally have gotten back into skating!! ;D
my hobbies are taking a backseat to work these days but when I have time.....I love photography...got a new digital that I am taking to the roo...probably shouldn't but the pics help me remember things when I can't remember things ;D I was also really big into scrapbooking for a while b/c I like to tell the stories behind the pics that I take, but work has caused that to go on the backburner...I also shoot pool on 2 teams...we are pretty good (if I do say so myself)...if (I am sorry..when) my team wins Memphis City we are going to play Nationals in Vegas...never been to Vegas so that would be supercool...other than that I like to read when I get a chance...and music of course ...I have gotten to see some incredible old Delta blues men play lately...the history here is incredible if you know where to look...

when i'm not at work supporting computers, you can find me at home 'playing computer,' whatever that means... i'm a tech-junkie. (not seriously sick though... i think. )
on weekends, i like camping, hiking, canoeing, and the like. i find the outdoors very comfortable. on tuesday nights, i work with the boy scouts. same troop i went to when i was a kid... the kids i work with are much more tame than the guys i was in scouts with, thank god...
i think i was bitten by the travel bug when i was born in weisbaden, germany. i lived in japan for two years, and i've also traveled to hong kong and bali. seeing the culture of other countries was a great experience. someday i hope to return to germany as i haven't been there since i was a baby.
i catch the occasional show on tv and can appreciate a good movie.
while i love listening to music, i also enjoy sitting behind a drumset and jamming with friends. live shows ARE the best, music is such a great release...
Sorry for dredging up this old of a thread but I was browsing some of the oldies and figured I'd add my $.02
Music, of course, is a big hobby for me. That's not to say that I'm much of a musician though. I played saxophone for a number of years when I was growing up but it's been ages. I'm in the process of learning to play the digeridoo. It's coming along slowly but surely.
I read a lot. No particular genre; mostly just whatever looks interesting at the time.
My wife and I got into diving about a year and a half ago. So far we've only made dive trips to Saint Lucia (where we got married) and Curacao but we're hoping to go to Honduras a few weeks before Bonnaroo.
I shoot both for fun and competitively. On the competition side I shoot action pistol and 3-gun (rifle/carbine, pistol, and shotgun) matches.
I jump out of perfectly good aircraft from time to time, but that's more part of my job than it is a hobby. I do love it though!
Mostly when I'm not at work I spend time with my wife, our two dogs, and the cat.
Last year was our first Bonnaroo and we plan on being back for this year's!
Why not revive an old thread? People's hobbies change over the course of almost 2 years
I enjoy: - ripping apart computers, doing all sorts of fun things to them (it's also my job!) - playing the variety of instruments i've learned over time, which includes violin, viola, cello (which is my main instrument), upright bass, and marrrrimba! - traveling. which led me to new york city where I now LIVE on my days off from work - all sorts of other fun things that I can't think of right now!
haven't had hobbies in several years now......going to shows is all that i can claim since 2000......and they have been few and far between......a few phish shows before the end, a few panic shows and the last 2 bonnaroos......the funny thing is that ill soon have way more time on my hands as graduation is approaching but the consequences of my adventures may keep me away......d@mn what a predicament.
