I'd been reading a great deal about instant live discs and the negative effect they were having on the record industry (like many of us care about them). I was going to ask if many of you would still trade in shows that were available for sale by the band. I WAS going to ask what everyone thought this meant for the music industry. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT CATALYST TO THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF MUSIC!!!!!! But no, while researching I read this....DAMN, I HATE CLEAR CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!!
The idea of patenting a technology seems very counter-productive. What if Macintosh had patented the technology of the laptop computer? Then perhaps companies like Dell and Gateway -- who have added to the laptop computer industry with their own new ideas -- would never have existed and the wireless Centrino technology would have never been discovered. It's obvious Clear Channel is trying to monopolize a media outlet. If you read the article, they are trying to stop all forms of instant live disc making, at all venues...including ones they don't own -- all three of them. It seems just about every aspect of the business is apart of Clear Channel. For the music industry, this means being bullied by a company that will continue to control any and all aspects of music. Clear Channel is simply a cancer on the vitality and prosperity of music as a business and as an art. Clear Channel saw that people were making money off of instant live discs, and jealous they weren't getting a cut, they went out and bought the technology from others to ensure they got a good amount of the profits. Then to ensure good money, they banned all forms of instant live discs. It sounds like a plot line out of the Sopranos or off of Goodfellas. And that is fitting to me because Clear Channel are gangsters in the world of music; only out for themselves and their wallets.

Yeah, Clear Channel sucks. I have caved and gotten an Instant Live moe. show, but just because the quality is so damn good. I wish more bands would put shows for sale on their site a la livephish.com
