Believe it or not, I too woke up thinking it was about time to get a ticket. I heard the news a bit earlier, a big letdown! This won't help the state of radio/mtv at all...that's for goddamn sure. In "their" eyes, this is just further proof that indie rock can't satiate the masses. Ugh.

I was going to buy a ticket too -- this year's line-up looked really good, and it was one reason I dind't feel too bad about missing most of Wilco at Bonnaroo. And I could see Flaming Lips, who I missed at Roo 2.

I think it was a very stupid move on their part, and they obviously do not know their market very well. First of all, the tour wasn't even scheduled to start for a few weeks. Why cancel so early? Furthermore, I know lots of people, and you guys have further illustrated this, that intended to go to Lollapalooza, but weren't able to buy their tickets far in advance because they were going to other music festivals that demanded their financial attention first, such as Bonnaroo or Wakarusa. Oh well, lots of other fests and shows to catch during the summer, but still sucks.
Anyone know if any of the bands on the lineup are scheduling a solo tour? i.e. SCI, Modest Mouse, Flaming Lips
Modest Mouse have a little tour going on, and had a killer show planned between Lollapalooza dates with the Walkmen & Broken Social Scene in Wisconsin...but...not sure who's actually going to be on board now that Lollapalooza won't be dragging them out to alot of these locations.

what is the date on this show? wisconsin isn't to far of a drive. went to alpine last year to see radiohead. definitly worth it for three awesome live bands.

The show is at the Rave...
MODEST MOUSE The Walkmen, Broken Social Scene Saturday, July 31, 2004 Tickets on sale NOW
I haven't heard anything about BSS or the Walkmen backing out, but I dunno...I don't think Modest Mouse alone are worth a drive to WI for me.
Other upcoming shows there that might interest those around here are Gomez/The Thrills, SCI, Sonic Youth, & Chris Robinson with New Earth Mud/The Redwalls.
