Anyone else heading out to DC to holler at Bush a little?
I'm leaving Chicago on the evening of the 19th with a local organization, via bus, to scoot out there for the day. Not sure exactly how things will be structured, but I just hope they don't try to put me in a "free speech zone." I don't want to end up in the Federal clink. ;D
drunk- What organization are you going with? I don't think I will be able to get the time off (or call in sick) but I might look into "sponsoring" someone's trip and am always interested in getting involved with active groups.

Hey Ka Mai--
The organization is called the 8th Day Center for Justice. As far as I know they're the only halfway decent sized group leaving Chicago. They're tied in directly with Counter-Inaugural 2005, so I didn't have a problem joining up for the ride. Luckily, I called off work right after Bush won, so it's not a real problem for me. Here's a link for their site:
Good luck with your trip AD, give 'em a protest or two for me if you remember. I heard on the news this morning that a group of about 300 people is leaving from Chicago for this, so you are in a select group of brave souls.
sittin' here at my desk in Washington, DC as we speak - a lovely snow is falling! Hope the wintry weather continues, resulting in lousy protest weather conditions. I'll probably blow off the swearing in (my seats aren't heated), but with a party tonight, an Inaugural Ball tomorrow evening and an all-day open bar overlooking the Pennsylvania Ave festivities tomorrow (thx to our Canadian Embassy friends), I should be fine. DDW - glad you could get time off from your part-time job cleaning the church; if I see you tomorrow - which I doubt, because my connenctions should keep me pretty far apart from The Great Unwashed - I'll be sure to flip you the bird; but I'll give you a big hug in June in Tennessee when I deign to join the muddy scrum!
God Bless America and God Bless George W. Bush! (Again ;D!)

There is nothing wrong with civil disobedience as long as it’s done in a non-violent way. If memory serves me right, this government was based on for the people, by the people. A government designed for inclusion not exclusion. Not for just the ones with connections. My thoughts are with you this morning AD. Good luck!
It was an incredible experience. We managed to make it beautifully uncomfortable for the monkey president's motorcade passing by. I'll be here for the next four years leaning into him with millions of others. He'll get the opportunity to slaughter plenty more innocent people over the next few years and I'm sure he'll eat up that opportunity like the blood sucking shame of the nation he is! Grit your teeth and hang on children, because we're America and we have a mandate! We're coming to kill you and your parents! It's funny though...because he's like just an "average guy," right? No understanding of the world around him, no comprehension of human rights, a clear disdain for all ideas differing from his own, and a twisted case of group think. Funny, funny stuff.
The lowest public approval rating in history for a president (?) going into his second term. I guess that's no surprise though, as he has set the standards so low time and time again.
Hey George, whaddya say? How many kids did you kill today?
It's scary to think that old chant has found a new life with a different name.
