It's a free email service through Google. You get 1 gig of storage. What I really like about it is that when you send someone an email and the person responds, GMail keeps all the "conversations" (emails) together on one page. You can put labels on emails (like "bank stuff" or "bonnaroo" or whatever) and easily find them later. It has some great features. It isn't available to the public yet, but it probably will be soon. So in order to get an account you have to be invited. Google it and you can find more info on the specifics.
