That REALLY sucks. I wonder what possesed him to kill himself. He was a successful and loved writer. Suicide always befuddles me, but it's even harder to understand when it happens to someone who has left such an important mark on american culture. I guess he didn't see himself that way. Or maybe this is the way he always saw it ending. ???
It's hard to imagine what in life could be so bad as to resort to suicide. It's such a selfish act if you ask me. I have a daughter in Jr. High and this past fall there was a 6th grader who hung herself. Can you imagine???
Yea, so I guess his family said that he was planning this suicide for some time, with his declining health and all. I could see where that might be a inviting option, but he just wrote a book last year, and I'm sure he had more in him. Now they're talking about firing his ashes out of a cannon.

I was so upset when i heard. I have read so many of his books. My friends and i had a Hunter S. Thompson night a few nights ago. We watched "Fear and Loathing" and talked about the books of him that everyone has read. He is going to be missed. And did everyone hear that Johnny Depp is going to play the main role in "The Rum Diaries." I can't wait, that was a great book by Thompson. I am so glad that there are other people that are interested in Thompson.
