Unfortunately...my boyfriend and I can't go to Bonnaroo this year after college has left us more poor than usual (it's mostly the commute from Massachusetts to Tennesse that's keeping us away). After we freaked out pretty bad seeing this year's AMAZING line up the only thing we could do to make ourselves feel better was look for festivals closer (and to make up for it we'd maybe go to 2 :-D.
I was wondering if any of you guys have been to the All Good Fest in West Virginia or the Forestfest in upstate New York. We can see pictures but the crowd doesn't look as chill as Bonnaroo... any thoughts?
also...was getting umm..stuff as easy as shakedown at roo
I went to All Good in 2002. It was at a different location in WV and in the middle of May. Sunshine Daydream, the place was called. We had sun the first day, and the rest of the time it rained. And not just a little. It pissed rain non-stop. And it was cold. It was sleeting by the afternoon on Sun. Which is why they moved it's location and the date to July. It was hella fun despite the ugly weather. The most miserable conditions but I was too numb to care.
Anyhow, to your questions. The crowd is pretty much the same as the Roo. Maybe not as diverse, but chill none-the-less. And as for the other thing. I mentioned how I was numb the whole time. Well I'd think it safe to say that you can find what you're looking for with ease. We didn't have to leave our campsite. It came to us. I'm planning on going this year as well, cause I too, cannot afford the Roo. I'm really looking forward to it though.
All Good always looks like a good festival to me and the lineup is awesome this year. I've never been to it but the more I look into it the more I hear that it's a shady festival. People generally say they have fun but a lot of the people are sketchy and sketchy stuff goes down. I've heard stories of people getting a gun pulled on them and getting stuff stolen. I can't say for sure cuz I've never been and I don't want to spready rumors. Thats just what I've read but I wouldn't let that stop me. People say stupid untrue stuff about B'roo every year and I've never encountered anything shady.
Yea, I heard that someone got a gun pulled on them last year too. But people died at Roo last year as well, so take it for what it's worth. Maybe the scene has gotten all crazy like, since I went 3 years ago, I kinda doubt it. There will always be trouble makers, doesn't matter where you go. Just be careful and kind, and hopefully others will be the same way.
one person had ketamine, cocaine, diazepam (Valium), oxycodone, and weed in her system.....the other dude had cocaine, oxycodone, and alprazolam (Xanax) in his system......
now for the fun part, the pharmacology (clinical, not chemical....for those hardasses out there).....the girl never had a chance from the start.....ketamine causes pronounced respiratory depression.....oxycodone causes pronounced respiratory depression......and diazepam can cause respiratory depression......they all also can cause marked vasodilation (blood vessels relax) resulting in hypotension (low blood pressure) which could lead to hypoxia (decreased oxygen supply to tissues/organs).....so taken together, or in close proximity to one another causes an agonistic (addititive) effect.....so essentially she suffocated.
unfortunately the dude suffered the same fate.....alprazolam essentially replaces the diazepam in the above description of effects and we see oxycodone again......so pop quiz.....what's the cause of death??....suffocation, due to respiratory depression and hypoxia.
so remember kiddies.....if your gonna take drugs, please learn something about them first.....or you might just be the next statistic.
raven
ps.....just in case you were wondering.....i believe that only mechanical ventilation would have saved them.....you could argue that a friend giving mouth to mouth might depending on the amount of the drugs in their system and the stamina of the saver.....but most people would not last long on either side of the scenario..... so if your friends passout, just make sure they are still breathing if they have taken any of the drugs i detailed.....
