So I'm back from my 2 week+ excursion out west. It was one hell of a time. My friend and I flew to Seattle and spent 4 days there. It was my first time there, and I gotta say that it's a beautiful city. It's a very pro-active social eviroment. Vegitartian resturants, organic grocery stores, independent music shops, eviromentaly friendly public transportation. I was very impressed with everything there. The people were really cool as well. We spent most of the time hitting up various bars with my friend, who lives there. Went to the beach in West Seattle, to the original Starbucks, to the famous fish market. I really want to go back there, maybe to live. From Seattle we flew down to Ontario, CA and stayed with my uncle for a night. Then drove to Vegas in the morning. We stayed at Circus Circus, which if you're familiar with Fear and Loathing, you'll know what I'm talking about. We basically walked around and drank, then walked and drank some more. We ended walking more than half way down the strip that night, before taking a cab back. I was excited to gamble for the first time, but it is a huge f*cking waste. I won 50 bucks but lost it the next day. And the comps are laughable. You gotta spend some serious loot before you get comped anything. But one place I recommend visiting is the brand new casino The Wynn. That place is rediculously extravigant. It has a Ferrari dealership inside it. Just off the wall extravigance. After two nights in Vegas, I was ready to get the hell out of there. My friend and I drove back and I dropped him off to visit with his cousin in San Deigo. I went back to my uncle's house for my cousin's wedding the following day. It was a cool wedding. I scored some smoke there. But the big highlight of that day was the Porche 911 Carrera twin turbo that my cousins wife rented for him. I got to ride in it for quite a while. That thing was super fast. Like a rocket ship or something. Just sickeningly fast. After the wedding I went down to San Deigo to meet up with my friend and his cousin. There was this huge block party going on, and it was unlike anything I've ever seen. 2 story beer bongs, house parties everywhere, free bands(the Benveinto Russo Duo played, but I missed em), girls making out with each other on the sidewalk, drunk kids driving thier ATV into the ocean and stalling it out there, just craziness. That was a night to remember. The next day I met up with a high school friend who lives out there now, and saw Jimmy Eat World. They were cool, but the opening band, Taking Back Sunday, was like the lamest sh!t I've ever seen. I hate them. I then headed back to my uncle's house that night. The next few days were spent tooling around So Cal. I saw a surfing competition at Huntington Beach, went to Disneyland with the fam, saw Star Wars, went to see the house I used to live in as a child. Good stuff. All in all it was an amazing time. It really sucked to have to come back and go back to my sh!tty job. So all you kids have fun at B-roo. Cause I had my major activity for the summer, and I'm gonna be paying for it for a couple months, but it was worth it.
What a great trip! I've always wanted to go to Seattle but have never found the opportunity. A friend of mine goes to UW so maybe he can be my reason for seeing the northwest. Your description of Seattle is exactly how I invision it. It sounds like you had just as much fun on this trip as you would have had at Bonnaroo, if not more. Be sure to post some pictures if you have any that you want to share.
Actually I just reallized that you can page through all the pics in my album, once you click on a link, but then I guess you'll have to figure out what they are yourselves. ???
