Today is March 1st right and not April 1st? I just saw this on Billboard and went to Coachlla main page and its true. She is supposed to play the dance tent on the 2nd day with Tool and Massive Attack on the main stage. I wonder how this came up? I know her new album is more disco, but I never pictured Madonna at Coachella.
Yeah I was just asking some of the other people I'm going to Coachella with what they think about this add... and we all pretty much have the same take. Seems weird, and none of us are going to make a special effort to catch her whole set or anything, but we all want to at least try to poke our heads in the dance tent while she's on and just see like 10 minutes, just because... hey, it's Madonna. And I'll admit a couple of her techno songs are really catchy, like that "Music" track that came out about 5 yrs ago.
I don't think she's gonna ruin Coachella's reputation for quality over popularity, because it's not like she's headlining. If they'd have put her in a headlining spot on the main stage, Coachella's rep would have been permanently damaged. But as it is, I actually think it's a great add by Goldenvoice. They'll sell a lot more Sunday tickets, and those who come only for her will be on the complete opposite end of the polo grounds from the Tool fans. And another reason I think it's a good choice is because it's the last thing you would have ever expected. I would have made 200 guesses before ever landing on Madonna. If nothing else, they're keeping us on our toes!
