I know everyone comes from different places and backgrounds.. I for one love to travel and live my life with having new and exciting experiences. So I'm wondering what are some things you've experienced that you would recommend that is a must see or a must do in ones lifetime.... Sites, Tours, Events, Places, Festivals.. Etc....
I would have to recommend the Bob Marley Experience in Jamaica. They take you one a bus ride through the hills to the real Jamaica, you get visit his home and Bob's Mausoleum. Once inside , No hats, no cigarettes, no beer, no shoes. But you are allowed to partake in some of the country's finest... I've been to Jamaica twice and on the tour once. It's so much fun I just made plans to return this year after Roo...

Im not sure how much you're into the outdoors thing but im from Maine, right near the 2nd most visited national park Acadia National Park... If you like hiking, biking, boating, camping, kayaking etc or just sight seeing Bar Harbor, Maine and Mount Desert Island are absolutely beautifull... Go towards the fall or closer to spring for cheaper everything and a less crowded park and downtown areas. Its a long way from Kentucky though thats for sure, but people come all over the world.
Im envious of my friends backpacking adventures he's had in Europe (6 weeks) and Ecuador (10 days) He'll spend several grand on a plane ticket but no where near that for everything else, backpacking rocks like that...
I'm going to carve a chess set when I'm an old man.
There's so many places I'd like to go, I probably won't make them all. -Ankor Wat -where my family is from in Italy (by Torino) -India -Glacier National Park -back to Haleakala Crater on Maui (most beautiful amazing place I've ever been)
Ummm. Want to have kids.
Other than that I think I've covered it all already .
For me its all about traveling. I been to a couple countries in Europe, but I want to see more. I want to go to Mali, India, Vietnam, New Zealand, Japan and a million other places.
New Zealand is a must! In 5 weeks you can go sledding down 180ft sand dunes, summit active volcanoes (one of which is Mt. Doom in Lord of the Rings), rest in thermal spas, do glacial hikes, but if you go do the Nevis bungy jump in Queenstown on the south island: 134m 3rd highest commercial bungy in the world and it is run by the guy who invented bungy, AJ Hackett.
traveling definitely rocks - the world is an amazing place. Keep in mind that the world is in your back yard, too.
My biggest must do's before I die: be more true to myself every day I take a breath. Feel gratitude for the beauty of the moment - even sorrowful moments...they'll pass. and I'd rather be here to experience them than not. wherever you go and whatever adventures you have - your reflection will be upon everything you see. When you're true to yourself, that reflection is desirable.
If I thought about this more I'm sure I could come up with a lot of stuff but off the top of my head one thing I really want to do before I die is see a show at Red Rocks out in Colorado. As someone who really enjoys live music and nature this place seems to be the perfect balance of the two. Really wish I could hit up the Umphrey's/moe. show in June out there.
samjaco has teh perfect answer!...among that go backpack for a minimum of 20 days straight through alaska, and move to a state at least half way accross the country- then stay there long enough to get culture shock, its amazing how much different communities and mind states are
A couple of weekends ago I did my first "galaxy dive". We went at night to a local spring that has huge cavern area. The flow from the spring is very high - about 14 - 20 million gallons per day. Went down into the cavern with nine glow sticks that we cut open. All the little bits of glow just floated around us in the cavern, underwater at night. It was light floating through space and quite the trip. I won't ever be able to afford flying on the shuttle but I'm up for another galaxy dive. FYI, since we were diving we were not under the influence of anything other than the excitement of the idea. I'd still rate the experience as one of the best trips I've had and something I'd recommend any diver do.
I work at an IRA group home for adults with developmental disabilities. One of the guys I work with, who I'll call Tim for anonymity, is a 73 year old man who's spent 50 years of his life in institutions. He was physically, psychologically, and sexually abused most of the time he was in there. He was even one of people that lived at the infamous Willowbrook institution. The life he's had to endure is evident on his body and in his psychological makeup. Despite all this he's one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet.
It's obvious to everyone around him that he's nearing the end of his life. One of the things he's always talked about is being a pitcher for his favorite baseball team. I got a call today from one of the staff I work with. She was setting up a trip to so Tim could see them play. She's managed to finangle a way for him to throw out the starting pitch at the game.
All I can say is F**k yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually, I've been saying that a lot today. I know this probably doesn't fit in this thread but I can't tell anyone right now and I needed to say something to somebody about it.

after spending some of the hardest times in my life with people with DD it is obvious that any suffering i come by is nothing, but the DD population holds some kind of majestic beauty and ability to still smile and get so damn excited despite the fact that they have lived some unthinkably difficult lives...everyone should spend some time with that population and see how great it is to make their day, it is like nothing you;ll ever experienc3e!
