I have just given this a listen and I really am pleased with it. The first CD is more up tempo as far the music goes while the second is slower, but the songs are still good. I still need some time for the CD to grow on me, but there are a couple funky tunes on the first CD that I automatically feel in love with. Anyone else give this a listen yet?
I've only heard bits and pieces, but it seems up to par with his usual material. Funny to see him get good reviews for basically what he's been doing for years now.

i love this album.. well half of it.. the other half is good though, i downloaded it an on my download it is disc 2 that is up tempo rockish...but man that rockin half of it is great stuff... ive listened to it several times.... hope he finds a way to be at roo....
I like the acoustic disc better than the Rock disc. Both discs are good, but the Rock disc does not have as many strong songs as the acoustic disc. "Gather 'Round the Stone" is my least favorite song on the album. And where are the Innocent Criminals on this effort? He did all the songs himself, which is great, but the Innocent Criminals are all phenomenal musicians.

damn dude we must be polar opposites in taste... i love the rock stuff and think gather round the stone is a great song... i am betting the innocent criminals will be in on a new album just in time for roo 07
August US tour stealfully went on sale today through the BH fan club. I picked up tickets to the Chicago show (with Damian Marley opening) and got my pavillion seating (I never end up getting those).
ka, i just did the same thing, except for the Columbia, MD show. I had no idea those tour dates were up until I checked his website (in hopes of maybe a bonnaroo leak) and saw the pre-sale starting today. I didn't even have to think about it, I've been waiting three years to see him live.
I would have to say Ben is the most electric, commanding, captivating live performer I have ever seen.
I just listened to the new album again and I'm still forming an opinion. I can say that I don't think I will grow to like it as much as my favorite Ben album (Fight For Your Mind), and I definitely like it more than my least favorite (Diamonds on the Inside, which I still think is a good album). Not sure yet where exactly in between it falls.
