I just joined a couple weeks ago, and I love it so far. Only $1.50 per album -- sounds good to me, even if you do end up recycling out your other CDs in the process.

You start an account, and you list all the original/unburned CDs you own (or at least the ones you would be willing to sell) as well as any CDs you want. Then when other people request the albums you have, you send them out to them. Every time you send an album out, you get one that you want sent to you -- for $1.00 plus 49 cents shipping.
Lala says it's against their beliefs to burn the albums you're trading to your computer/ipod/whatev, but I do it anyway -- the artists get 20 cents every time one of their albums is traded, more than at most used record stores.
