I have not yet forayed into the intimidating realm of Live Phish yet, and I have absolutely no idea where to start. I know that there probably aren't too many "bad" live Phish albums, but could anyone suggest a good starter? A classic perhaps, a purely solid release, or just someone's personal favorite?
A Live One is very good and a solid release. It was my first Phish album. Hampton Comes Alive is nice also. From the Live Phish series, I would recommend volume 7, it is one of my personal favorites. From the Live Phish website I would buy the Miami New Years Eve shows. All four nights were freakin' fantastic. I hope this was some help.

Really any live phish album is going to be awesome, as they are picked by the band. I really like vol. 11. I agree, live phish is a very overwhelming thing, but it is worth it.

dude, go here tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela . anything on that site that is marked as PH is a phish show, I reccomend some late 97, some 93-94 for a taste of the hayday, there is some 80s phish when they were comin up and there are some good late 00-01 shows peace bro
all Live Phish albums rock....thats how the band is ment to be listened to...my first album was a Live One too...I actually really enjoy and recommend the Live At Madison Square Garden 95'....its great has a lot of great tunes..think you'll like it
as far as the official live phissh releases they should all be pretty good, i know they released 7/11/00, havent heard the release but i was at the show and it rocked hardcore, but then again you cant go wrong with the early stuff. i'd just go check out bt.etree.org though and get whatevers posted, unless you just really want the soundboards.
ashwa - get a bittorrent program, go to bt.etree.org

New Years at MSG 95 was the last release i bought, i already had the show but of course i had to get it for the SB quality and the liner notes... Abosolutely hilarious Col. Forbins>Mockingbird and the band resigns the chess game ending in a tie... Good price where i got it too...
Live Phish 12 is about as perfect a phish show as you can get in the current live phish catalog. A Live One is a great starter disc, but it is a compilation pieced together from the 94 summer and fall tours. 8/13/96 (Live Phish 12) is a full show from Deer Creek which is an absolutely glorious musical adventure, and a marvelous illustration of why we all kept coming back.
ok ya guess not, never really used sugarmegs exept for some ftp sites and never had much luck, but that was before bittorrent was invented and i havent attempted to use it since. the right clicking thing is just the only way i got stuff to download from archive.org for some reason, and right now i cant even get the sugarmegs streams to work on my computer (non windows)
if you must record off of sugarmegs though there is various software to record audio/video streams to your computer, go here www.freeware-guide.com/dir/audio/streaming.html and download the "FREE Hi-Q recorder"
