I've just picked it up and only listened to the second cd but it's good. I got the special one with a extra cd and tabs and a sticker. I'll be able to give a more in depth when I'm done listening to all three cds.
I've gotten through it a couple times now. As a huge Ben Harper fan, this hurts, but I'm kind of disappointed.
First of all, two of the songs are basically Dylan rewrites. Maybe not completely, but that was my first impression: A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall -> Black Rain (actually, this is a very good song) Gotta Serve Somebody -> Serve Your Soul
Get It Like You Like It - that verse about Johnny Damon kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. Hope he doesn't play it if he's in the Bronx.
There just aren't any songs on there that grab my attention and punch me in the face which is what I look for. I'm sure it will grow on me more though. I just had extremely high expectations.
But what pissed me off most about this? I bought it from Ben's site as the exclusive 3 disc version not available anywhere else. For $28. Now Amazon is selling it for $15. Way to stick it to your fans.
That said, I eagerly bought tix for his August show in Chicago, and I'm praying he's at Roo. And I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten more action...
