Me thinks i'm about to purchase "House Of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski...has anyone read this book?
It's a tough read, in my opinion. I've been working on it for months, setting it down to pick up other books for class assignments and whatnot. I did my best reading of it on an airplane. It also helps for the 'feel' of it, being on an airplane and all. You should definitely look into it.
"The Illuminatus! Trilogy" - Robert Shea, Robert Anton Wilson
"Cryptonomicon" - Neal Stephenson ("Snow Crash" would also be in my top 5 sci fi)
"Stranger in a Strange Land" - Robert A. Heinlein
some sci fi for ya
I'm still working on House of Leaves, I'm having a hard time reading it though for some reason. I even bought the Poe CD to help me but its not working!

1. the Wheel of Time series by jordan a good epic fantasy series that gets a bit long but still pretty stellar over all, try. Its huge and kicks ass. 2 Plato is also a fav, almost every socratic dialogue by plato is thought-provoking and amusing though the 'apology', socrates excecution is my fav. And finally a good book concerning buddhism, either the Gods drink whiskey by Asmo, orthe Bones of the master by Crane. Both are travel style first person 'romps' ( ha i used romp in a review) through buddhism, with the former being more philosophical, and latter being edgier and more poetic. Its really hard to narrow it down to three, especially because I work at a bookstore!
I finally started reading House of Leaves and I have to say this is the best book I have ever bought. I'm on chapter 4 right now of The Navidson Record. This is the most experimental book i've ever read. I can tell this book is going to take serious commitment and deep thinking. Get this book! You'll be glad you did.
