I'm in your boat poop - I'm back to going to the shop every Wednesday and spending like $25. Recent good picks (some of which you've already heard):
Shaolin Cowboy - Geof Darrow Constantine: Hellblazer - anyone & everyone Testament - Douglas Rushkoff Walking Dead - Kirkman (25 just came out! I thought 24 was the end!) Loveless - Azzarello/Frusin Team Zero - Chuck Dixon Conan: Book of Thoth Red Sonja vs. Thulsa Doom Snake Eyes: Declassified (series is over) Desolation Jones - Warren Ellis Painkiller Jane - Joe Quesada Jeremiah Harm Books of Doom Annhilation Planet Hulk
If you're in the mood for some Mad Magazine-esque madness, check out "Supa Bad James Dyno-Mite." It's a Wayans Bros. comic - pretty funny.
Indie: Anything by Mignola, O'Barr, Morrison, Azzarello, Ellis and lots of other indie fare I pick up at random.
As for the big publishers I'm a Marvel zombie and have been for more than twenty five years-- mainly Iron Man and some other choice books (and for their selection of creators and respect to indie artists). I've been a fan of their bigger stories lately...
Absolute timeless faves: The Crow (original), V for Vendetta (very excited about the movie), Iron Man:Crash, Dark Knight Returns, Hellboy: Wake the Devil, and any compendium of The Invisibles.

i'm a huge marvel fan as well. my friend shave been swayed my dc because of infinite crisis but i hope civil war will reel them back in. i usualy drop between 30-40 dollars a week on comics but tis totally worht it and i ahve actually made a lot of my money back. the first print of marvel zombies number 1 is now worth 35 dollars!
I enjoy comics casually. I have a number of friends who will drop good money each week on comics (I will usually just read theirs occasionally), but I must say that I have shelled out my fair share of hard earned greenbacks. In particular, on the Coheed & Cambria series. I know that their music might not fit with a lot of people's tastes here, but if it does then check out the comics. The first issue is insanely hard to find and expensive and the second one is almost as bad. They aren't very pretty to look at (they really just advance the story of the band), but the third one that was released with "Good Apollo..." is gorgeous. Plot is dense (like the music), but the art is phenominal.
