....minus Layne Staley of course will be touring for the first time in a decade. This was my favorite band back in the day, so I wouldn't miss it for the world. I saw Cantrell perform a few years ago and the AIC songs were excellent. They'll have the same guy singing for Layne that did so at that show, and he did an admirable job....of course nobody can replace him.
Here's the newsletter. Only a few shows before they head off to Europe, but like Tool I assume they'll embark on a bigger tour this fall. But with these guys I'm not taking any chances.........

That's what I thought before seeing Cantrell, but that turned out to be one of the best concerts I've seen, and that was without Inez and Kinney. Ok, I know those names don't just roll off the tongue, but this is the best we're ever going to get. As much as I love Layne's voice (Mad Season's Above is one of my all-time favorites) they are still Alice in Chains songs. If you loved them then, you'll love them now.
If you were just a big fan, not an obsessed freak, I'd say wait until they get back from Europe. Tickets will be easier to get, and most likely, more nearby.
I am thinking of the Chicago show but I don't know. I get queasy thinking of an AIC without Layne. I'm not sure. I know the rest of the band means well but...

DAMNIT!!!!
I was on-line in plenty of time, refreshing my browser so I'd be ready the instant they went on sale. When it popped up I entered my password and # of tickets, then I get to the word verification step. I enter the word it. Screen freezed for 20 seconds then says "what you have entered does not match the word" or something like that. So I check my caps lock, nope, all good there. Must have been a typo, so I try again. Same wait, same message. I'm getting a little ticked at this point, but figure I'll be cool. Well, after trying a couple more times, closing my browser, starting over, and entering the word a couple more times it finally goes through....wait a minute while they look for tickets, and surprise sur-fucking-prise.....THEY'RE SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!!!
My hope is that they only sold a portion of the 1,100 tickets during the presale and are holding more for the general public. Is that a standard practice for Ticketmaster?

Nope, they just put a message up. Totall sold out.
So I miss out on Tool because nobody else wants to shell out the $$. Now I miss out on AIC because Ticketmaster F'd me. They say bad luck runs in 3's.....think I should buy tickets for some random show and hope it gets cancelled so nothing happens to Bonnaroo??

First time I heard it I was tripping my ass off....I was a big AIC fan, but I hadn't heard of Mad Season yet. I've never actually felt music the way I did that night. It literally hurt.
