I just recently got the Hullicino-Genetics Primus tour DVD, which I will be watching this weekend. And I realized that I for some reason take more pride in my music DVD collection then I do in my actual cd collection. This is probably because it is so easy to get new free music. I also recently purchased a Calexico live, Gorillaz live, and White Stripes live, that I am all geeked up about watching. It seems like I have to search to find these DVDs alot of times, because most of the times I did not even know of their existence.
Anyways, just wondering if you guys have any favorite music/concert DVDs, since I am always looking to add to my collection?
My current favorites are the Coachella DVD, the Directors series DVDs with Jonze, Gondry, and Cunningham, and the Fearless Freaks.

you mentioned you already got it but White Stripes Live under Blackpool likes is AMAZING
My 2nd fav DVD is Pink Floyd - Live @ pompeii. The directors cut allows you to watch the original release without the talking, only the music, sweet sweet sweet.
The Led Zepp DVD is also a really good buy. Both DVD's have excellent content.
I also dont really recommend the Black Keys Live and the 311 live 311 day show, they are good but they have only been watched 1 time, never really felt like I needed to see it again after the first watch.

Aphex Twin & Chris Cunningham - Rubber Johnny Better Living Through Circuitry Les Claypool - 5 Gallons of Diesel Bonnaroo 2004 Phish - Live in Vegas, It, Bittersweet Motel Rize Dig! Devo - Live 1980
I'd recommend Radiohead: Live in Astoria. It's from 5-27-94 in London, just before the Bends came out. It's weird to see all these Bends songs, and no one in the audience knows them. Now they're sing alongs. I also like the Wilco film, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. Those are my 2 favorite that I own.

Dig!
how did I foget this one. This movie is great, I love BJM but hate the Dandy's, dont matter though cause this is such a good music DVD. Highly recommended even if you have no interest in the bands.
Yeah, I am a big fan of Dig, the Astoria DVD, and that Floyd was pretty cool. I will have to check out those Zeppelin DVDs. I am glad to hear that they have good content. Sucks to hear that the Black Keys one was not good though.

My personal favorite is The Talking Heads DVD, "Stop Making Sense." Not only is the performance great, but the extra of David Byrne interviewing himself is absolutely hilarious!
I'm also partial to the Trey Anastasio/Santana DVD, Live at the Warfield.

Stop Making Sense is the best concert film ever made imo. I think it would be great to see the DVD reissued, as the image and sound quality aren't really up to date, and the extra you referred to is just priceless. It was a trip to hear Umphrey's sample a snippet of it in their '04 Bonnaroo set.
Other favorite DVDs (only the Monterey Pop is a straight-up "concert film"):

my collection:
phish- it, bittersweet, vegas Pearl jam- live @the showbox, Live at the garden, touring band David byrne- union chapel (love this one) taking heads- sms Every Roo dvd out radiohead- Glatsonbury 03, meeting people.. band - last waltz bob dylan - unplugged Dead- some random dick picks show, winterland
i cant remember everything, but those are the ones that get the most play.
I just saw Fearless Freaks, The Flaming Lips movie. It's pretty awesome. It's really cool how all of the members still live in the same town they grew up in. Wayne Coyne is officially on my "People I Would Love to Meet" list.
Man, I have a lot. Too many to list, though I'll try in a second. I started collecting concert VHS's in the mid-90s when DVD-R technology did not exist (and I could not afford a DVD player). My first one was bought off an old hippie in the lot of a phish show in 1995. IT was a Grateful Dead show at RFK stadium. IN 1996 I ran into the same guy in the lot at Deer Creek after a Phish show, and bought the second night of the Dead at Hampton Coliseum in 89, as it was one of my favorite concert audio bootlegs back then (and still is). That started me out, and In 97 I began trading online with other people who had similar tapes. By 1999 I racked up somewhere in the neighborhood of 140 videos, mostly phish, the dead, some bob marley, pink floyd, jimi hendrix. Vids like that. Some were illegal, some were pro shot. I still have them all, though I rarely watch them anymore b/c VHS is such a sh*tty media.
I quit that for a while, and then the millenium changed. Eventually I bought a dvd-r and dvd palyer, and started trading bootleg DVDs online via phish forums and what-not. Electronically and through the mail, and of course, going out to buy the official releases.
At this point I have the 140 VHS as I said, and more DVDs than I care to count, both bootleg and store-bought.
I own all the official phish dvds, It, Bittersweet, Vegas. Grateful Dead: view from the vault 1-4, downhill from here, Ticket to NYE '87, Closing of Winterland. All the Bonnaroo DVDs 02-04 (where's 05 dammit!). Stop Making Sense, of course (best concert DVD ever made). Panic, Live at Oak Mountain. The Pixies latest DVD release. The Band's Last Waltz. Festival Express is an instant classic for any fan.
As for my bootleg dvd collection, it varies. IT Ranges from Phish at a festival in France in 97, to the NYE run in Miami, to Big Cypress to alot of the post-hiatus shows, and includes some pro shot stuff like Jimmy's Dream. I have alot of phish. Too many to list here . I also own the Trey set from inaugural Bonnaroo, Radiohead at Glastonbury, Pink Floyd doing the wall, and some other various Dead dvds.
There are still LOTS of dvds being actively traded at bit-torrent sites like The Trader's Den. It's a good place to start to build a collection if you're just getting into it. I have to admit, I am not doing it much right now, as my DVD-R sh*t the bed, and my life is busier now than it was when I was actively trading, but I encourage any fan of concert music to go there and see what they can find.
We've got a few, some have already been mentioned, but here they are:
David Byrne: Live at Union Chapel Keepintime A Live Recording Product Placement (Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow) R. Kelly - Trapped in the Closet (I know, it's horrible, but it's too funny!) Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense the Chris Cunningham collection
not music, but concerts, in a sense: Eddie Izzard - Circle Eddie Izzard - Dress to Kill David Spade - Take the Hit
