The Red Hot Chili Peppers announced details of the first part of their World Tour in support of their new album, STADIUM ARCADIUM due May 9. The tour will feature The Mars Volta as opener and begins Friday, August 11 in Portland, OR. The news of The Mars Volta opening these shows is of particular note for folks who have had the pleasure of seeing Chili Pepper guitarist John Frusciante sit in with the Volta on a number of occasions. If you dig the freaky rock, don't miss these shows - and definitely don't miss the opener!
Concert tickets will go on sale Saturday, May 13 (except for Boise, which goes on sale May 12). Fan club members can purchase tickets starting Sunday, May 7; and those pre-ordering the album via iTunes can purchase tickets on the album release day, May 9.

I just bought tickets to the Columbus show!
I was thinking about going to this show, but I'm not to fond of the venue. I saw the System of a down/Mars Volta tour there last fall and it really didn't do anything for me. They both played great, but there was just something missing in the atmosphere.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
I'm not really familiar with the venue (I'm from Knoxville), but it probably wouldn't have mattered. My boyfriend and I promised each other that the next time we had the chance to see The Mars Volta that we would no matter what. (We saw them at Bonnaroo last year, but we hadn't gotten into them as much, so we sat way back where we couldn't see much.) We wanted to go to the one in Atlanta, but we didn't realize tickets had already gone on sale. Now, they are sold out and selling for $300 a pair on ebay. These were still too much, but they were better seats for less, so that is where we are going.
