It might work now.
Regardless, it's about Steve Mason the former frontman for the Beta Band who has a solo album coming out shortly, but has just announced he's quitting the music business and is pretty much nowhere to be found. I haven't heard the leak of the album yet, it's being released under the moniker King Biscuit Time, but supposedly it's really good. It just seems like he was always on the brink of creating something really amazing (I'm sure there are many who consider alot of his work amazing already). Hope he's ok

I have some of the other stuff that was released under the "King Biscuit Time" name and it sounds exactly like the Beta Band (not that that is a bad thing).
I would love to have had the chance to see them live before he hangs it up for good but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. Oh well

I have all the Beta Band stuff except for their self-titled, nothing from King Biscuit Time. I never got to see them live either though....seems like it would be a fun time.
i was fortunate enough to catch them live several years ago. they opened up for radiohead when i saw them back in jersey. they were good. bummer that he's done making music.

actually it was referring to the august 01 show at liberty state park (which was an awesome place to see a show btw. i don't know if it hosts anymore).
i was at the 03 show too. no beta band though so don't kick yourself for missing them.

I had never heard any of his or Pavement's stuff before seeing him open for Radiohead in Cleveland....it was an awesome (but abbreviated, of course) set. Can't wait to see him now that I'm familiar with his whole catalogue!
I was at that liberty state park show...unbelievable place for a show...and i had never heard of beta band before that show but they were great...trivia - who else opened?
and the real reason i jumped in this thread is to say that "Dry the Rain" is one of the best songs ever!

kid koala. he even mixed a radiohead song into his set.
liberty state park is great. being able to see radiohead on stage, then look to the left and see the new york city skyline is awesome.
