I just picked up this DVD from Coachella from FYE today. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet, but it has a great lineup of performances on it. Some of the featured performers are Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers, White Stripes, and The Mars Volta. It should be pretty rad!!!!
I just watched that the other night. There were definately some good performances on there. And there are some terrible ones, IMO. Like Fischerspooner. Is that guy for real? Wow. Yeah, it's a solid dvd. I only saw the 1st disc(the movie) through netflix so I don't know what treasures the other disc could hold.

Just Netflix'ed it and watched it tonight. I'm pretty impressed by the quality. Makes me wish we had Belle and Sebastian, Arcade Fire, The Pixies, and Fischerspooner. Good stuff.

I bought that DVD the day it came out, and before that I saw it TWICE in the theatres. It's really really really REALLY good... they cut interviews with the artists in with the performances and it's done really well. It gives a great idea of what attending Coachella is like both as a fan and as an artist playing the event. I have tons of concert dvds and this one is probably my favorite.
Interesting side note: when I saw it in the theatres, it included a performance by The Prodigy, which was mysteriously absent on the dvd. I didn't really mind though. and fyi, the second disc has no performances, just additional interviews. there's also a cool photo booklet included. the packaging is well done. It's funny, there had been rumors of a coachella movie in the works for years and years, and we didn't think it would ever really happen... but it did, and it turned out great. If any of you have ever wanted to go to Coachella, this dvd is the next best thing... put it on the big screen with some good surround sound speakers, crank the subwoofer, and it's like you're THERE.....
And Danbird, I know Fischerspooner is a little "over the top" but, that's like, their whole schtick. Scissor Sisters has the same flaming/glam thing going on. You can't deny that their audiences have a LOT of fun at their shows
Yeah, I like Kampy bought that DVD the day it came out. But I waited until a Friday to bust it out, and I played it loud enough that I had my jackass neighbors knocking on the door at 9:30pm on a Friday night. I hate neighbors. I am sorry that your wife has a headache, but it is freaking 9:30 on a FRIDAY NIGHT.
Anyway, it is a great dvd, there is some high comedy in it. But it does give a good sense of the festival. Although, I thought that they made the electronic scene seem very candy-esque, which always makes me squirm. I mean, they didnt have to show the guy with four glowsticks hanging off his hat as the typical electronic music junkie.
They did a great job on song selection for the DVD, although a Broken Social Scene song would have put it over the top for me.

I get it. I just wouldn't like some guy yelling at me the whole time I'm watching his show. I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!! I'm sure it would be interesting to see live, but I'd definately be somewhere's else. It's like, dude, just settle down, and put your clothes back on.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Scissor Sisters!!! I listened to their album four times going to KY the other day!

Well, if you ever get a chance to see them live, do it. They rocked my world at Coachella. Imagine Elton John meets the Bee Gees, but very rock and roll, very shiny and sparkly.
