Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Is it just me, or is the topic of this thread uncannily ironic considering what the discussion has moved to?
I think dudewheresmyroo??? is bringing up legitimate points... but the fact he's going to bonnaroo puts them in perspective. Yeah they reduced capacity because they didnt sell out last year and hiked the price and promoted it as in more limited supply... Do you expect them to admit they have falling attendance and need to cut attendance to boost profit? I'm sure thatd help the future of Roo...
see this guy gets it. im not hating on roo. i love roo. but i do have some gripes about certain things they are doing. thats natural. noway to please everybody all of the time. i will continue to bitch about superfly doing things i dont think are right. i will also continue to go to roo until i dont have the time of my life or walk away saying that wasnt worth the money. im not sure that will ever happen
But something nobody has mentioned is the fact that whether it is close to selling out or not, it is NOT in Superfly's best interest to have any number of disgruntled people showing up to buy tickets day-of and finding out it's sold out. The traffic implications, much less the crowd-control issues and fears of disrupting what has been a pretty structured situation are just a few of the issues. Plus, they then hand the empowerment card to the scalpers at that point.
It is a marketing ploy in the phraseology- it's what could be labeled a momentum technique. But it does indicate they must be at least 2/3 the way there and they are looking for the final third. You don't throw that out there if you only have 1/3 because the marketing rule suggests you're only going to generate another third. (Sorry for the ramble here, but I'm in marketing.)

I can only hope, that once June 1'st hits and everyone realizes that BONNAROO is so ridicilously close, that the complaining can stop. If Bonnaroo didn't market, and didn't run a buisness there would be no BONNAROO. I love how any type of marketing is viewed as shameful...I don't think superfly is shameful at all...whens the last time you saw a bonnaroo commercial? I'm just sayin, it'd be one thing if this were January, but its almost June and we gotta start gettin ready and stop finding things to complain about.. the only thing on my mind is how to be at two stages at the same time.
lighten up peeps... it's all good.. i'm sure it's just that southern hospitality we've all been yearning that's getting in the way here.. bonnaroo is great.. i fell in love w/ it the moment i stepped foot on grounds... i think they're just throwin a heads up to people, as many it seems, just try to show up and expect for tix to be readily available.

haha...I fell in love with bonnaroo the day my cooler then expected ticket arrived.... Its all good, I just wanna focus on the billion of positive things that bonnaroo is about
you shouldn't be. music is music and i respect it all...and dave is very talented. but in all honesty, not what i want to see at 'roo...and a far cry from the setlist of '02...and brings a certain type of crowd...i'm just adverse to change i guess, and 'roo is definately changing every year

I hear you loud and clear... it is changing every year and you have been to more than me, but I think if you surround yourself with good people and ward off the negative people/bad vibes - you will have yourself a good time =)

I've just gotten comfortable with the fact that 1-2 headliners will be acts I don't care much about. I'm not big on Petty, but this year I'm PSYCHED for Radiohead & Phil. I'm not a Panic fan at all, so you can imagine my joy last year finding out they were doing 2 nights....
Anyway, I especially liked Dave doing Friday night last year, b/c a ton of kids came just for him and left after that (or left on Saturday). That makes everyone else's stay (those who are there for the whole event) MUCH more roomy & comfortable, and the kids STILL have to pay the full ticket price, so Superfly & AC make out A-OK. It's a good situation for everybody. Dave kids get Dave, 'roo kids get a roomy 'roo, and Superfly & AC get paid!
most definately true...a roomy 'roo makes me happy! like i said, just adverse to change, didn't think after the 1st year it would end up being that kind of show. Everything evolves I guess, and to be honest, I don't care if Ashlee Simpson is there, there's still good music to see and I'll still have a great time!
Sorry to sound so harsh, but honestly, the complaints about Bonnaroo I see on these boards are piddle compared to the crap ACL and SXSW pull.
I can't speak for SXSW because it's not really my thing and I feel it is a big rip-off, but ACL has been pretty great. ACL tickets are extremely cheap and their line up is fantastic. What "shameful" things has ACL done that are on par or even worse than the things dudewheresmyroo listed about Bonaroo?
If you want to see the major crux of my argument about the way Attal runs things, go to the ACL festival thread. I just think they build up a lot of false hype to about headliners they don't end up booking to boost presale tickets. I know of no other festival that sells as many tickets on false hype without ever releasing a lineup as much as ACL.

ACL also sells dirt cheap tickets before the lineup is announced. I think it was 35 or something. Now its 115. That helps sell a lot of tickets. I'd buy my roo ticket for 50 bucks with no lineup announced.

Lollapalooza has allocated a small amount of tickets for dirt cheap the last 2 years and the Voodoo Festival is doing the same thing more less. It is a small gamble to buy your ticket before the lineup, and if it doesn't happen to be anything you like all that much you can break even by selling the ticket. That is how I look at it.
