I just got my ticket to see DSO for the first time here in Knoxville's historic Bijou theatre. Needless to say I am a GD freak. Anyone been to DSO? What did you think?

I saw them last fall here and i have to say that they totally live up to all the hype... They mimick actual dead shows note for note and do an AMAZING job... I hate cover bands but i had to go see them just to see what all the buzz was about... They really are incredible and a great time... By the end of it i was just wondering how these guys with so much talent arent doing their own thing...
Its alot of fun to try and guess what year the show is from or even what specific show it is... At the end of the show they tell you the date and venue that they just performed and its really cool to try and guess and listen to all the buzz in the crowd during and after the show....
I love em. The next best thing to seeing the real Grateful Dead.
They are incredibly talented at mimicing the the band, but also bring a little of thier own flare to the sound as well.. the late keyboardist sounded exactly like Brent, and I mean exactly .If you were to close your eyes, you'd think that the real band was up there on stage.
Quite often they also do shows where they just jam their favorite tunes too, but they sound so good that you forget that they are just a cover band. Last fall I met Donna Jean from the real band after some shows that she was doing with DSO, the only real band member that i have met, but boy did that make a great show even better.
If you were to close your eyes, you'd think that the real band was up there on stage.
I can testify to this fact. Saw em at All Good 2002, I think. It was POURING rain and with the lights shining in your eyes, and with the help of the state-of-mind I was in, it really seemed like it was The Grateful Dead up there. They're really good.
Seen DSO 7 times and loved it every time................. I gotta tell ya I wish I could see them, dance, enjoy the Dead vibe untill I passed out........
yea darkstar is a most excellent band. they had this huge tiedye tapestry as a back drop when i saw them and the stage lights made it keep changing colors, as well as the fun guys i was with
