anyone into the eels besides me?..i am going to see them in philly the mon. before roo..
has anyone been to any of the first few gigs?..i heard E is really "scruffy" looking and they are rocking the joint on this tour as opposed to a chill night w/ a string section (like last tour).

I saw them on....crap, I don't remember what talk show, maybe Conan....and they did a great version of I'm Going to Stop Pretending I Didn't Break Your Heart.
Based on that performance I'd say the descriptions you heard were accurate.

Check this out..cam across a pic of E's new look..apparently they are trying to imitate the "electric mayhem" band from the muppets..this pic compares e to "Floyd Pepper" the bass/guitarist from the muppets...EELectric Mayhem..hahaa works for me.
I love 'em. Saw them at the Metro in Chicago a few years back. Great show (esp. with Chris Gore, PJ Harvey's old bassist in with them). The opening act for that show was... a mime! It was hilarious.

Yeah, that's pretty much what he looked like.
I don't know if I'd say they "rocked" the song, but there was some added muscle. Actually, I saw it late at night, buzzed so I can't really give you much of a description other than I was pleasantly surprised. You should be able to find it here....

Never heard of 'em until I looked at this year's sched. Now I can't stop listening to them. Beat Me reminds me of everything that was cool about metal in the 80's (OK just dated myself) w/o any of the crap. My 2 yr old and I were rockin out to "Don't Say Fuck" today in the car (I'm dreading the calls from the kindergarden teacher we're goin to get...)
