What a load. Batwoman is a lesbian, Green Latern & Nick Fury are black. Give me a BREAK people. I'm all for equality, but they're rewriting history here!!!
There not rewriting history, it's a continuation. There have been multiple different Green Lanterns and this is a new Batwoman (the old one is still dead) who happens to be gay. I think it's a pretty cool idea. I just can't wait until the religious right starts complaining about gay superheroes. In fact I think it might be one of the 1st signs of the apocalypse

Yea well, the Nick Fury example isn't a continuation. And I didn't think Green Latern was either. They're just trying to sell more titles, I understand that, but I still think it forsakes comic history in a big way.
Truthfully I was a Marvel comics guy, but from my understanding in the DC universe Batman, Superman and someothers have disappeared so new people are stepping up to fight crime.
Jon Stewart (the black green lantern, not the talk show host) is one of the coolest of the GL's.
Yes, it's too bad everyone can't stay white male and straight, but this isn't HISTORY - it's comic books. When they made Superman fly (he used to only leap) I'm sure someone complained.
Anyway, this is DC's schtick anyway and I will agree that they are looking to cause a stir.
I'm a Marvel guy too. When Northstar came out, they just let him be gay.
But Nick's not a continuation... Nick Fury's only black in the Ultimates line, which is deliberately writing its own continuity (essentially just a big Elseworlds playground). The real Nick in the main Marvel U is still alive and caucasian as ever.
