I've had a suspended license for about a year now (this is due to a DWI I got a while ago, and I, being the supreme retard that I am, never bothered to fix it) and have been basically riding by the skin of my teeth for about that long now..
yes, I have been driving my car... stupid, I know.
today, my luck completely ran out... I was pulled over for, and I knew it was going to be like this, one of my tail lights being out, the cop asks for my license and registration and right off the bat I say "my license is suspended." he gets my registration and my license plate number and processes the stuff...
now, I'm freaking out in my car while he's doing this... I'm thinking to myself, GODDAMMIT, JUSTIN! Why'd you have to be such a goddamn moron and put yourself in this situation? I'm going to jail, I know it...
so I wait and wait for the inevitable to happen, but when the cop comes back up to my car, he just hands me my tickets and says "tell you what I'm gonna do.. since you were straight forward with me about your license, I'm not going to have your car towed.. I'm going to follow you back to your house (which was only about 200 yards away...grr..), and then take the license plate off your car."
I'm stunned... I thought for sure that I was going to jail, or at least my car would be towed, but this is a rare nice guy cop. he said he'd rather see me use my money to get my license straightened out that to see it go to a 250 dollar towing fee..
so, in the end, I have a ticket for driving without a license, and a ticket for my taillight being out (which he said would probably get thrown out anyway)
my court date is in 2 months.
I am an idiot for driving without a license and totally brought this upon myself.. I just feel like the stupidest person in the entire world right now... the only thing I can really be happy about is that my car isn't in an impound lot somewhere and that I'm not in jail...
I just needed to get this out and say something about it...

^Now THAT is good karma at work Coulda been a whole lot worse. Those nice cops are pretty rare. I know someone who ended up in jail for exactly the same thing.
Cheer up. At least you are still coming to Roo, right?
the only thing I can really be happy about is that my car isn't in an impound lot somewhere and that I'm not in jail...
...and that Bonnaroo is so danm close! So those are two things you can be happy about. Plus your name is Justin, which according to this message board is the coolest name ever. So that is actually three things to be happy about.
fortunatly, this really doesn't affect the Roo for me.. I was riding with my friend in his car (there was no way in hell I was risking driving w/out a license with that many cops in one area, I may be stupid, but not that stupid ) , and I've had a bit of money for Roo saved up in advance, so no real problems there...I'm still going to have the time of my life at Roo, I'll just have this sort of looming over me to deal with when I get back.
I just thank god that it was a nice cop that decided to pull me over and not one that wanted to flaunt his authority..
this will, however, make it extra hard to buy the supplies I need, what with having no car to transport it back to my house...
damn your lucky. im in the same boat. only i blew off my dui stuff and now ive got a warrant in ohio. i will be very happy when we cross into kentucky on the way to roo.

I know someone who ended up in jail for exactly the same thing.
I'll second this, I have a buddy who was pulled over for the second time only his license was suspended because of a DUI and he was being pulled over for DUI. Needless to say he got busted and spent 90 days (well actually 83 days) in jail because nobody could bail him out, I was in the car completely sober.
Oh man oh man oh man - you are lucky - I work for two attorneys - one does domestic and the other does, get this criminal and DUI defense - if you had been in Mississippi - they would have taken you to jail - do not pass go - do not collect $200.00 - and then you have the ticket which would cost about 400.00 plus then the chance of being sentenced to 10 days in jail at your hearing - this of course if after you have already bonded out when you were taken to jail, plus your car would have been towed and impounded.
Soooooo - in a lot of ways you are one very very very very (I cannot stress that enough) man!
i hate when i'm sober in the car with drunk people (but the drunk people are never driving unless i'm drunk too) and we get pulled over and i just have to sit on the curb talking to the cops while they do whatever it is they need to do to the drunks
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

hey now, just to clarify - I wasn't drunk when he pulled me over today
naw, I've been thinking about it while at work, and I'm totally counting my blessings on this one. I still feel like a moron, but I know that someone up there really likes me and really wants me to go to bonnaroo ( I know this is a superficial thing, but it's important to me, you know? )
I know how completely f*cked I could have been, and I am thanking god that it didn't turn out the bad way... If I ever see anyone calling that cop a pig, I'll totally tell them off.. I have much much respect for that guy, as he was just doing his job, and appreciated the fact that I wasn't trying to keep him from doing it by lying or trying to run (a stupid thing to do, anyway), so he decided to help me out alittle.. it just goes to show that not all cops are bad guys
and I've also found a silver lining in all of this.. now that I'm walking to both jobs, it'll get me geared up for all the walking that I'm going to do at the Roo!
well, I'll never call that specific cop a pig.. I'm just too grateful to him for not completely f*cking me (like so many others would have) to put him in that category
but most cops are pigs, true, and the ones that hassled Kramer are ultra pot-bellied pigs.
i hear that. roo is already fuc.king up my sleep and its over a week away. i put on a cd to go to sleep to and 3 cds and 5 inforoo checks later im still up
ya i hear that. im actaully kinda happy about it. ive been going to bed aroun 8 am and sleeping until 5. we are leaving at 6 for roo so ill be good and rested.
