So the schedule was sent out via email today for ACL this summer, and the result is not so great in my opinion. So many conflicting sets, headlining sets lasting no longer than an hour and a half...and on top of all this, Sufjan is coming into town to do two shows Friday and Saturday night which is a major conflict for me (probably means no Van Morrison Friday). The real shit kicker though is Saturday night where Brazilian Girls, Explosions in the Sky, Kings of Leon and Iron & Wine all overlap followed by Willie Nelson and Massive Attack playing opposite each other at the headlining spot... FUCK.

lame. i have tons of people trying to get me to go with them, and i've been telling them that i don't want to go because i've known it will be a let down since the beginning when i saw that several roo bands were playing. plus, after the show, you don't get to walk back up shakedown street and to your campsite, you actuall have to find a place to go.

well at least we know the blue room streams. I imagine that the blue room stage gets streamed. Wolf Parade yeah! I dont think the conflists between bands are that big. Iron and wine and Kings of Leon are like night and day. Maybe its a personal conflist but I think it was a wise move for ACL. Wish I would have went to Auston a week later so I could see some of this.
^^^Most people I know who like Kings of Leon like Iron & Wine. It's not always vice versa, but I would venture to guess that conflict is going to kill people. But the conflicts go far beyond that. Let's run this down by day:
Friday 3:30-4:30: Wolf Parade vs. Stars 4:30-5:30: Nickel Creek vs. Gnarls Barkley 5:15-6:30: Okkervil River vs. Cat Power vs. Gomez 7:15-8:45: The Tragically Hip vs. Sparklehorse vs. Ray Lamontagne vs. Oliver Mtukudzi & Black Spirits And personally, I think playing John Mayer off of Van Morrison is an insult to Van Morrison. Just my opinion.
Saturday (aka The Day of Conflict): 1:30-2:30: I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness vs. Phoenix vs. Feist 3:30-4:45: TV on the Radio vs. Nada Surf vs. Secret Machines 5:30-6:45: Guy Clark vs. Aimee Mann vs. Calexico 6:30-7:30: SCI vs. Racounteurs 7:30-8:30: Brazilian Girls vs. Explosions in the Sky vs. Iron & Wine vs. Kings of Leon And then Willie Nelson vs. Massive Attack at the headliner slot. Again an insult, but this time to both groups.
Sunday: 3:30-5:00: Buckwheat Zydeco vs. Matt Costa vs. Jose Gonzalez vs. Kasey Chambers 4:30-5:30: Matisyahu vs. Ween 5:30-6:30: Los Amigos Invisibles vs. Son Volt vs. The New Pornographers 6:30-7:45: Ben Harper vs. the Flaming Lips (TRAVESTSHAMOSITY!!!) 7:45-8:45: Jack Ingram vs. MUSE vs. G. Love & Special Sauce And of all the headliners to get his own slot, it's Tom "I Already Saw You With Stevie Nicks at Roo" Petty...
Frankly I'm pissed. I'm probably going to end up getting a ticket for Saturday. And I'm considering going Sunday, but I'm not so sure. The decisions are killing me. And Damien Rice pulled out...
