is anyone else hitiing this next weekend???july 28 - 30. i cant wait! nelson ledges is awesome. if you live anywhere near ohio you should check this place out. they have stuff all summer. its the best venue for a fest ive been to. and if you have kids this is the perfect place to take them. they will still be exposed to alot of craziness but theres lots for them to do. a friend and i took our kids here for gratefulfest and they loved it. they will be coming with us to summer hookah too and are super excited. nelson ledges has showers. swimming/beach. trees everywhere so sleepin till 2 in the afternoon isnt a problem. you can have personal camp fires and everyone partys till the sun comes up. no checks except when you arrive in your car. and thats a lite search for bottles. they dont have an alcohol permit so you can bring as much beer as you want down to the stages. althoguh bottles are not allowed and they will take them if they find them in your car so bring cans. if you can check it out do. you wont be dissapointed.

its going to be a great time and its only 50 bucks with 3 nights of camping. thats a deal. anyways you shoul definetly check this place out. its the same vibe/scene as bigger festivals justa bit smaller scale. and the people are great. no bad vibes anywhere at anytime while i was there. heres the website. www.nlqp.com/
I live about a half an hour from the place. It is an old rock quarry. Pretty, clean water. Haven't been there in more than fifteen years. Last time I was there, I saw three people drown. Used to be a real real crazy scene in the 70's and 80's with tanks a rippin' everywhere. Fireworks, often homemade, hitting people while they swam. 4x4s mud boggin' with kegs in the back. Swore I'd never be back, though I still had incredible amounts of fun. All kinds of rumors abound about the place.
Fact is, in the last 10 years, a new owner has busted his ass to clean the place up, in all senses, and to put on really good shows in a really quality environment. The vibe has exceeded the expectations of most locals. Many of my friends have seen awesome acts there and have reported nothing but goodness all the way around. It has become a nice example of how soulshine chases out the "rain'. I would urge any who can make it to attend any event they throw. (well maybe not every event--Insane Clown Posse has held their 'Gathering of the Juggalos' there the last few years !)
Next time they get the likes of Sam Bush, Tony Rice, David Grisman there, my old ass might even make it down the road.
Just be sure to keep up the vibe. The history of the place cannot allow for anything else. That being said, it's STILL a biggole Party with a capital PPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
With all of the good to this scene aforementioned, DO keep in mind that many of the sites are isolated, and incidental opportunism IS still in effect. I HAVE heard of many a cooler being looted and so on. Was talking the recent history of the place up to a glass blowing friend of mine this weekend. He quickly informed me that a partner of his was hit upside the head with a club and had his inventory and cash yoinked about a year ago out there. Can't bail on it just because of this type of crap though. Gotta show up and represent for the good in mankind. Keep ya eyes open, coolers locked, and stand up for what's right. Shouldn't have to be that way, but it is.
