You guys aren't going to believe this. Along with Tressell and Rutgers' coach, Charlie Weiss is one of the finalists for the Coach of the Year Award in college football
I'm absolutely shocked. They were #2 in the nation before the season started, right?? So obviously everybody knew they had talent, right?? And they got the living shit kicked out of them in against their two tough opponents (sorry GT), right????

I'd bet he does win it, but I wouldn't have any qualms with Tressel either. I sure didn't think they would be able to do what they did with 9 new starters on D.
Tressel, Shaivo, are definite candidates. I thought Carr did a pretty good job and Meyer and Nutt should be in the running as well depending on who wins this weekend. Nutt, I would have thought would have been a shoe in if he had beaten LSU last week, especially since he has been playing most of the year with a rookie QB. His job was in jeopardy at the beginning of the season. The fact that Weiss is even getting mentioned totally discredits this award. Has ND even beaten anyone this year? I just checked their schedule and the only ranked team that they beat was a 19th ranked Penn State team. The media lovefest with ND makes me sick.
I forgot about Nutt. Yeah if he beats LSU last weekend AND Florida this weekend, then Nutt wins hands down, but he lost to LSU, so even if he wins this weekend, I don't think he gets the award.
You gotta give him props for the job he has done down in Ark this year though.
I think McFadden is your Heisman frontrunner going into next season.
McFadden is a beast. He should be the front runner for the Heisman next year. I am scared of him running through my Gators D tomorrow. I am sitting in the Arky section, so that would suck if I am watching my team lose in the visitors section. I already did that with the year that the Gators got blown out by Bama, when Shawn Alexander had a career day, on my birthday no less.
Have a great time at the SEC CG dude! Wish I was going.
I am rooting for the Gators since they only have 1 loss. I think they have the best chance to get into the NC game if USC loses (not gonna happen though!).
I would like to see an SEC team get in. The BCS always screws the SEC!
Thanks. It should be a good time. I have a bunch of buddies coming into town, which always takes it up a notch. 6:00 tip off time definitely allows a good bit of tailgating.
The SEC is getting a royal screwjob for potentially the third time in the BCS. LSU and Auburn already got it, and now Florida if they win and USC loses.
Michigan already had their chance to beat OSU. I know that it was at Ohio State, but does the public really want to see a rematch. Its not too compelling, IMO. If USC loses, then you have Florida (if they beat Arkansas) as the only other candidate. Now I know that OSU is a better team than Florida, but Florida has an excellent front seven with Reggie Nelson roaming around in the secondary. So we would be able to slow down (I did not say stop) the OSU offense. And, as long as Wynn gets healthy, so we can have some semblance of a running game, with all of our playmakers at receiver (Harvin, Baker, Caldwell, Ingram, Cornelius) plus bringing in Tebow for a couple series, we could definitely give that OSU defense a run for their money. It would be a compelling match-up. It is just tough that two months ago, everyone (meaning the ESPN hype machine) were saying that the SEC is the toughest and best conference, but just two months later they are talking down about Florida's lack of style points in beating these opponents.
But, I can't complain, because if you told me at the begining of the year that Florida would end up 10-1 going into the SEC championship, I would have been happy as can be. I thought a 9-3 record would have been acceptable, and anything above that was a bonus (as long as we beat UGA and FSU).
They need to blow up this BCS thing or at least do a plus one situation, so that the top four would be in (this year that would have worked out great, with Florida against OSU playing the winner of UM and USC).

Michigan had a chance to go undefeated, but they happened to lose to the #1 team in the country.

It just doesn't make sense that this scenario hurts Michigan. I know nobody wants to see a rematch, but isn't the whole point of the BCS to get the two best teams....not the most intruiging matchup?
I'm not necessarily saying Michigan is better than Florida and/or USC, I just can't stand that the fact that Michigan lost to OSU is being used to keep UM out of the championship game when it is really one of the biggest reasons they should be there.
I definitely see your arguement DReau. At the same time, who has Michigan beat - PSU, ND, Iowa, Wisconsin, four ranked teams or were currently ranked. Florida has beat - LSU, UGA, UT, FSU, BAMA, five either ranked teams or previously ranked teams (although UGA, FSU, and BAMA all really went into the crapper). USC has beat - ND, Cal, Ark, Neb, Oregon, five teams that were ranked or previously ranked, but they lost to an unranked team. It is definitely a conundrum this year, which a plus one situation would fix lickety split. They put in another BCS game this year anyways, why not make it a plus one.

I'm with ya. All along I've said I wouldn't have a huge problem with either USC or Florida going ahead of Michigan if they win out. They've both played tough schedules and have very good teams. Who's the best out of the 3? There's no way of knowing. Personally, I think Michigan's two wins against BCS top 10 teams and a 3 point loss on the road against the #1 team speak strongly for them, but without a +1 or tournament this is what we're left with.
Personally, I would prefer a 6 team tournament with the top 2 teams get the advantage of having a bye. If they did that this year using the current BCS standings the games would be Michigan vs. Louisville with the winner playing USC, and Florida vs. LSU with winner playing OSU.
I like the 6 team idea. Never thought of that. Instead the BCS finds ways to blow it each year (except last year of course, when it all worked out and we got to see one of the only games that actually lived up to the unbelievable amount of hype it was receiving).

Its definatly a tough decision this year, but i think if USC loses then michigan will end up going to the big game. While i dont really want to see a rematch, i also believe that michigan is the only team who can hang with OSU. I have a feeling both USC and florida are going to get slaughtered by OSU. You never know what will happen on game day though.
